Everyone is misunderstanding what's going on here. Mom is obviously so chill with aliens that not only does she not recognize this particular alien, but she's concerned her son went somewhere she doesn't know about with that unfamiliar alien. He needs to call her so he can tell her.

A quality meme, wasted on someone completely unworthy.
Not everyone grew up consuming memes. Maybe if you call and explain it she'll understand and have a great laugh. Totally worthy then.
I consume plenty of memes and I still don't follow the point. far from quality when you have to know a detailed moment from a cookie cutter movie that many people don't care about.
Metaphors are hardly a new device. Anyone who knows how to read above an elementary school level should readily understand metaphors and similes.

Seriously. I understand there’s a generational gap, but this is laid out so fucking plainly. Like… how does she not know, at the very least, that the purple dude is not a real person
how is it plain? what is he doing? what is on his arm? what does him fucking with his arm have to do with taking a charger when it is not needed? I have no idea and clearly plenty of other people also agree.
this scene is not common enough knowledge to reference that people know what's happening and that makes it a poor choice for the meme.
