Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

This, but every evening a week straight until the bottle is actually empty and then I walk around with greasy hair until I get weird looks from people at the mall, at which point I remember to buy it.

Right but it isn’t funny.

Comedy is subjective

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago

Then you put the extra bottle you bought away, and realize you really should have checked the cabinet, and now you have 3.

And then forget in 5 minutes cause I was in the shower.

Then remember immediately the next time you get in the shower. Vicious cycle.

Diluted shampoo

[–] avattar@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 9 hours ago

Or just rinse, save some shampoo for tomorrow.

I do this with tooth paste.

I’ve started buying two tubes at a time because I can’t be trusted

[–] xorollo@leminal.space 7 points 10 hours ago

My husband buys the toothpaste. When mine runs out I take his so that he will always know if the closet stock is empty. If I took one from the closet, and it was the last one then we might be left without. When we get low, it's a game where we are constantly stealing the tube back and forth . I like to think this game helps him remember to get some more.

This is why I set the bottle in the bathroom sink after having this thought. Its hard to ignore something so out of place and in the way

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Then when you go to use the sink you set it aside cause you need to use the sink and it's promptly forgotten again.

[–] Godnroc@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

Toss it over the curtain so that it clatters to a weird spot that is hard to miss.

[–] four@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago

Hard, but still doable.

“Hey [Siri|Google|Alexa|Jarvis] add shampoo to the grocery list”

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 138 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I've seen a lot of shower thoughts, but this thought is the showerest

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

What about "welp, time to poop"?

I gag

shower noises

[–] GeekyOnion@lemmy.world 33 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

This, right here, is the highest quality "Shower Thought" I've ever encountered. You win!

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

What do they win? Hopefully shampoo

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Conditioner!

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 34 points 13 hours ago

Took me about 5 seconds to get this.

So....not a LONG time, but I'm still ashamed it wasn't instant.

There’s a reason trash like this was banned from the reddit one.

In two years, only these two guys thought of buying more shampoo.

Back before covid, like June of 2019, I bought a whole bunch of soap, shampoo etc. figuring that stuff has a very long shelf life. I'm actually still working through the stocks I bought, I've probably got enough bath soap to last into the 2030s.

I decided not to buy a bulk lot of toilet paper, not knowing I live in the dumbest timeline.

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 17 points 13 hours ago

This is why I subscribe

[–] gashead76@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago

Shower thoughts in the shower? Hmm...

[–] SethranKada@lemmy.ca 8 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

And how many bottles are still in your closet? Because that's always the first thing you should check after thinking that particular thought.

[–] Shiggles@sh.itjust.works 5 points 13 hours ago

I have three bottles, still sitting neatly in their half of the 2 pack packaging. It hurts.
