I remember when nerds whined about Idris Elba playing Heimdall, because obviously an alien Norse god can't be black under some kind of logic. Also when g*mers whined about Tyrael being black in Diablo III and called him Tyrone. What I'm saying is that nerds were a mistake.

Here's a list of tons of leftist movies.
Why couldn't elves be black? aragorn is so racist he couldn't love a black lady? the light of the trees could easily explain blackness of elves, living under the literal sun on a tree, and cause they live so long, they are unlikely to whiten even after 5000 years away. although all high elves would have to be black, would be stellar
smh, fake fans. make sindorei or whatever those based dark forest elves outside of valinor whiteys, cause they haven't seen the light of the trees (there were some passage ascribing some negative quality to them, was it not?)
*also, also the real trvth nvke is that she watched him grow up, she is elvish bridgitte macron.
Go into most MTG forums and watch chuds bitch and moan in a thousand topics, a million times over about cards that are more than two years old now.
"DEI ARAGORN! WOKE WIZARDS OF THE COAST! THIS IS NOT ACCURATE TO THE BOOKS!"
It's really funny that ppl were like "ugh this art is terrible too" like c'mon now, black Aragorn looked great. Magic has had some doodoo-ass art and this isn't it.
They are absolutely silent on a Teferi alternate card in the Final Fantasy set being a white person. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Square couldn't even bother to draw new art for her?
That 1999 CGI render isn't exactly fitting in
It’s just not historically accurate to have black people walking around in Gondor.
it fucks me up how many people get upset about nonwhite people being cast as characters they expect(?) to be white, which is somehow more pronounced and embarrassing when it's in fantasy.
like, get a grip. it's fantasy. and of course if it's a nonwhite actor, it's political wokism and cynical marketing, but if it's a white actor it authentic, artistic, and real.
aside from how incurious and un self aware these critiques are, I just can't imagine caring so deeply about it that I would even think to bring it up, when there are so many other engaging critiques around media these days... like how much of it is endless retellings of pre-existing IP, how conflicts are always same same tropes, and how the arts suffer under the austerity of artistic education, since only the rich are allowed to pursue them, only the rich can fund them and only the rich can platform/distribute them.
but no, gotta hear from a guy in his mid 40s how the new little mermaid sux because she's doesn't look like some 3rd century Hibernian smoke show.
it's like basically a tantrum over no longer being the exclusive target demographic of media, but not being able to admit that the "classic" versions were similarly inauthentic either.
Honestly, it is predictable that the fash would stand up for the worst aspect of Tolkien's work. I have friends that were really turned off of Tolkien because of how, due to his own racism and Germanic literature tropes, all of the "good guys" were described as pale or fair skinned in the books, and the only POC were humans siding with Sauron.
In my personal opinion, those folks need to lighten up. We’re talking about a completely fictional realm where there is plenty of fantasy diversity expressed in other ways, written by a British man who was born in 1892. Enjoy it or don’t, but there really isn’t much foundation to assume that Tolkien was trying to be racist with his literary choices.
From the Wikipedia article on Tolkien and race:
In his personal life, he was anti-racist both in peacetime and during the two World Wars.
Sure, we can throw in some black characters in new productions of his work, but judging the man by modern standards is just looking for outrage.
Goes to show that D&D is the superior adaptation of the lotr material. The new movie, Justice Smith is an elf and I'm sure that mad fashy nerds mad.
