Wild that you’re comparing revolutionary optimism to self help books. I’ll have to let Fred Hampton, Mao Zedong and Ho Chi Minh know.

“The most immediate antidote to nihilism is revolutionary optimism. Revolutionary optimism isn’t rooted in a blind hope that change will come at some unknown point in the future. It is cultivated by the acknowledgement that only through participation in the struggle to liberate the people can the lives of the people be transformed. Revolutionary optimism is bolstered by a deep curiosity in and knowledge of the history of class struggle. Social change is treated as a science, one with distinct properties and elements that are both inevitable and profoundly dependent upon the actions taken by the people.”

Lotta lib comments here so I’ll reiterate again: REVOLUTIONARY OPTIMISM IS ESSENTIAL!

Really funny that people here are bashing JT’s video considering the positive work he does educating and encouraging people to join orgs and be active.

Will and Hesse look at two films starring Mickey Rourke from 1987: Angel Hart and Barfly.

For those who don’t know, Beau of the Fifth Column is a fairly popular “leftist” YouTuber who makes videos sympathetic to power under the guise of radicalism and about a month ago he decided to step down from his channel due to being “overworked” with his wife taking his place. I find it very interesting he decided to do it around the time his history as a human trafficker has started to really gain traction in online spaces. The two can’t POSSIBLY be connected, right?

The controversial first episode of Movie Mindset sees Will and Hesse looking at two films directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington: Man on Fire (2004) and Deja Vu (2006).

Respectfully disagree with the mods decision to delete this. Equating Hasan with AOC is an ignorant statement to make due to evidence of him being far more radical than her. Thus any attempt for me to reply to their argument in good faith, I feel, is tainted from the get-go.

Remember when BE labeled himself a journalist? What happened to that?

[-] Walk_On@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Now I know for sure this is BE

lol

[-] Walk_On@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

What? lol

I’m not even a rabid follower of his stuff and like I said in the OP, dude’s not perfect, but he isn’t nearly as bad as people talk about.

Found BE’s alt

[-] Walk_On@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

I don’t take issue with him because he’s constantly attacking the dems, raising money for Palestine, was a guest on the Deprogram, and straight up said in a recent stream that “the revolution won’t be voted in”.

Dude just loves riling himself up into a frenzy, doesn’t he? I guess he was mad that Hasan was going to interview Obama, which never even happened, and now he thinks Hasan is a “genocide supporter” because a random YouTube clip he came across that said “Hasan supports Kamala’s policies”, which he never even watched and was most likely just clipped. Hasan isn’t perfect, but fuck, you think at least him going to the DNC as a journalist would be considered fair from BE. Wild.

Even RFK Jr. has support for this.

Curious if people are still going to support him after this.

[I originally posted this in chapotraphouse, but it was deleted for being “pro-cop” even though that very much wasn’t the case. (I believe PSL was actually involved in organizing the protest if I’m not mistaken.) The mod that deleted it openly broke the sectarian rule too.]

Been seeing a lot of people hating on what the protest marshals did during the pro-Gaza protests at the DNC and I feel they definitely did the right thing. Instigating stuff like going up against the cops under the guise of “revolutionary” action just gets a lot of people arrested and doesn’t accomplish anything.

EDIT: Users who were present at the protests have said, counter to what is claimed in the screenshot, that the protest marshals did NOT call for the police. Thank you for clearing this up, comrades!

What will be the name of Homophobic Chicken’s streaming service?

Not surprising I know, but I’ve noticed that this appears to be the final straw for a lot of people.

I know I’ve expressed dislike for the guy in the past, but seriously? I thought for even something like this, he would at least have a good take on it.

Robert Schneider, frontman of Apples In Stereo and producer of In The Aeroplane Over The Sea has just released an A.I. album and his takes on it has got to be some of the worst I’ve ever read especially when he tries to use both math and the passing of his late friend, Bill Doss from Olivia Tremor Control, as justification for why he made the album and why A.I. is good. Here’s an article for context. The author, Schneider’s friend, at least doesn’t like A.I. at all: https://superjews.substack.com/p/can-ai-generated-music-have-a-soul?triedRedirect=true
