How many times does satire and irony posting have to backfire on us before we realize that shit only works if the person is smart enough to be in on the joke; otherwise we're just propagandizing against ourselves.

Agreed that it sucks but I don't think this is a super serious issue, mostly because it's such a bad bit that it will almost certainly tail off to zero activity like 95% of comms on here do. Maybe the bottom of the sidebar should say it's satire just so we have something to point to for the lemmy libs though.

Bit of a tangent: Hometown, a fork of Mastodon, has “local-only posts,” which can be used to limit visibility to the instance where everyone’s in on the joke.
