January 26 marks the colonisation of Australia and the grief, heartache and pain that this has inflicted on First Nations people for generations. It is also a moment to recognise the ongoing survival of the oldest existing culture in the world today.

On January 26, 1788, Captain Arthur Phillip raised the British flag at Warrane, marking the beginning of British colonial rule on Gadigal land. This date, originally commemorated as Foundation Day, has evolved into Australia Day. However, this day also represents the start of the invasion, suffering, and dispossession for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The true history of these lands spans over 60,000 years, far preceding colonial times.

When British settlers began colonizing Australia in 1788, between 750,000 and 1.25 Aboriginal Australians are estimated to have lived there. Soon, epidemics ravaged the island’s indigenous people, and British settlers seized Aboriginal lands.

Though some Aboriginal Australians did resist—up to 20,000 indigenous people died in violent conflict on the colony’s frontiers—most were subjugated by massacres and the impoverishment of their communities as British settlers seized their lands.

Between 1910 and 1970, government policies of assimilation led to between 10 and 33 percent of Aboriginal Australian children being forcibly removed from their homes. These “Stolen Generations” were put in adoptive families and institutions and forbidden from speaking their native languages. Their names were often changed.

For many Aboriginal and Torres Trait Islanders, January 26 is a day of mourning, symbolising the loss of their ancestors, their land, and their rights. It recalls the devastating impact of the Frontier Wars, the ongoing trauma, and the systemic injustices that continue to this day, including disproportionate rates of Black deaths in custody, health inequities, and the desecration of sacred sites. Celebrating on this day overlooks these painful realities and the resilience of First Nations peoples in the face of ongoing colonisation.

I wonder who the person who actually banned Donald Trump is. Like obviously someone had to press the button to actually ban him. I wonder how they are. Imagine being just some shitty moderator at Twitter, and suddenly the direction comes down from on high to ban the president of the United States. For a brief second in time, you are given power over the leader of the most powerful country on Earth, if only in a very narrow capacity. Tbh I sorta wish that were me.

Look i know we're not supposed to like the edgy Pokemon game but the pirated version can connect to official and unofficial online servers without any steam emulation or third party programs and i think it's going to be very fun to grief people when i get home

Wanted to try some alchohol today, just from the safety of my home, because I've always been sulky and sad when drunk and I wanted to see if it feels different now that I've been on hormones for a few weeks. The good news is that I don't feel down at all, but the bad is that it feels like I've drunk way more than I actually have.

The "official" Skyrim gun mod is so fucking lazy and insulating. It's very,v ery, very, very literally just a re-skined crossbow. No new animations or anything. You could make it in the creation kit in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds if you know whaty you're doing. Like Todd, Todd, ffs, could you fucking hire one animator for one week to make an animation of someone lighting a match and putting a bullet in the barrel or something? Wtfffffffffffffffffff

HATE HATE

Fuckers been trying to monetize/destroy the mod scene for decades and he's putting fucking dollar signs on a lazy re-skin (and, admittedly, a new dungeon)

While other western nations cut aid to UNRWA, Ireland and Norway have both expressed continued support, stating that the agency is doing crucial work to help Palestinians displaced and in desperate need of assistance in Gaza.

When asked whether he welcomed the ICJ ruling, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia was not a party to the process.

"We've made very clear our position, which is that every human life matters, whether it be Israeli or Palestinian," Mr Albanese said.

Meanwhile, the Australian government has announced it will temporarily pause disbursement of recent funding to the UN Palestinian refugee agency after Israel alleged its staff were involved in the October 7 Hamas attack.

"Australia will continue to support the people of Gaza and work to provide humanitarian assistance. We reiterate our calls for civilians to be protected, and for humanitarian assistance."

so i've been fighting with the property mngr and landlord at the office where i have my business for literally 4 or 5 months about sorting out AC issues at my office. It is routinely 5-10 degrees hotter than anyone would find acceptable in here. Like as high as 78-80 (25.5-26.6c) degrees while its 69(20.5c) outside on the extreme end but it's routinely in the upper 70s like 76(24.4c) degrees.

It's obviously very embarrassing to bring clients around here and have it be so uncomfortable, AND THE MF OWNS A AC REPAIR COMPANY THAT IS ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS SO MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

The day before I said fuck it and just bought a portable ac and just blow the exhaust right out into the hall. Their elec bill is probably gonna be wild but they can eat my ass i've been asking for them to do fucking anything for over a 1/4 of my lease term

Found out talking to a co-worker on her last day at the end of tonight (she hasn't been there that long bu yknow, we were friendly and was asking about when she started her new gig etc) and found out she had a degree which I didn't know but also that degree was in poli Sci with a focus on international relationships. It's probably a good thing i didn't know that until that point.

Watching Spy Kids again reminds me of how attractive Antonio Banderas was back in the day. Even now he looks good for his age.
