The amount and type of ads is just too much to handle.

White border fast paced ads on top of every comment section and every ~20 Posts is just too much ..

Syncs business model is not acceptable for me.

I wanted to buy sync adfree but 18โ‚ฌ is just too much.

I will switch to an open source alternative.

i really dont get the issue, pay or switch. Its always been an ad supported software unless you pay, and as someone who paid AND quit Reddit over loosing access to Sync I think its totally worth the price.

This is where I'm at too. This was my most favorite app in Android back when I used to use Reddit. Gave up on Reddit because Sync wasn't allowed. I think it's worth the price for the effort that LJ Dawson put into the app.

But to each their own.

Just leave already then, it's fine.

No no no on the internet you don't understand. You can't just leave quietly. You have to make sure everyone knows you're leaving.

People are allowed to voice their opinions...why is this an issue to you?

[โ€“] APassenger@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You realize your comment is ironic, yes?

[โ€“] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 months ago

Well I'll be darned..so it is. :D

I'm pretty sure no one wants you to pay for something you don't appreciate.

You have many other options. Good luck.

It's a weird thing to complain about. There are so many other apps out there, and while I think this app is worth every penny and that it is the best Lemmy app I totally understand that the price isn't something everyone can stomach.

Just try something else. I personally don't think any other app is as good but I do think they're all great and worth trying.

Jerboa meets and exceeds my use cases..that and I couldn't justify buying literally the same app again, but it being redirected to Lemmy instead of Reddit which is why I wouldn't buy it again. I won't do it for videogames, so I won't for programs.

And that's a fine position to have. There's nothing wrong with that. Complaining about the ads and the price when there are so many good apps isn't useful to anyone however. I don't personally like jerboa, nothing wrong with it but it's not for me, but thunder is great and many others as well.

Dude or Dudette, you've plenty of choice. If you don't want to pay for the software, no problem! Download an open-source app. Problem solved!

Use an adblocker. I use adguard and have never seen an ad in sync.

Eternity for Lemmy is a good alternative.

Syncs business model

Given that you clearly know it's a business, why are you then expecting special treatment? If you like it, use it, if not, there are alternatives available.

[โ€“] SoleInvictus@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

I just stumbled over your post at random. I use Voyager and it's great..

[โ€“] CrayonRosary@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Try Thunder or Eternity. Both are pretty good, and the best open source alternatives I've tried. I paid $20 for Sync at launch, and now that LJ is back at it, I'm using it again.

$20 one time for an app I use every day is not that much really. It's the price of an average meal out. Or maybe 1.5 cheaper ones. You'll forget you even paid it in a couple weeks.

I dunno, I bought it for Reddit 14 years ago, and bought it for Lemmy in the hour it was available. It's great, 18โ‚ฌ is nothing really
