A community for everything related to Palestine and the occupation currently underway by the occupying force known as Israel.

Anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism. Existence is resistance for Palestinians.

Please refer to Israel as Occupied Palestine, or occupied territories. The IDF is a fascist and ethnonationalist occupying force. Israelis are settlers. We understand however that the imperial narrative (which tries to legitimise Israel) is internalised in the imperial core and slip-ups are naturally expected.

We always take the sides of Palestine and Palestinians and are unapologetic about it. Israel is an occupying power whose "defence force"'s (note the contradiction) sole purpose for existing is to push Palestinians out so they can resettle their rightful land. If you have anything positive to say about Israel we do not care.

Unfortunately I am going to sleep now because the sun absolutely cooked me alive today and I won't be able to see how this unfolds. See you tomorrow comrades, death to Israel

Stay hydrated, death to Israel.

Looks like the western leadership is all coming together and uniting to condemn the brown people for fighting back against western aggression.

[–] RedColossus@lemmygrad.ml 30 points 7 months ago

Of course Israeli stooge government, Jordan, has mobilized their fixed Anti-Missile and PATRIOT missile defense systems to attempt to save their masters.

Tfw not in minutes because it wasn't hypersonics at Tel Aviv sicko-wistful

[–] fire86743@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 7 months ago

Hypersonic missiles fly at roughy 5km per second. It would take missiles launched in Iran roughly 2-4 minutes to reach Israel, especially since it’s highly doubtful Iran would construct launch platforms right on Iraq’s border.

Death to the occupiers

It's going to be interesting to see how US responds. I personally didn't think Iran would escalate this way, but looks like they've decided to make a point.

[–] caveman@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That Iranian "attack" was so slow and gave so much room of manouver to Israel that I believe was done to save the face of the government to it's population.

And Israel can also claim superiority and feel it doesn't have to retaliate. Better than an escalation.

Another perspective would be that Iran used this so force Israel to reveal it's de defense positions and have to chance them at a very high cost:

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 7 months ago

Yeah, it was calculated to make a point and try not to escalate too much. But the question is whether US wants to use this as an excuse to start a war. Neocons have been salivating for a war with Iran for a long time.

I wonder if they will go for the jugular, like attacking refineries, power plants, ports and perhaps the seat of goverment, or if they will limit it to military targets only. Although if they go for the economic targets things could escalate a lot more than if they only attack a few military bases.

[–] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 7 months ago

Energy and infrastructure are a mission critical to the military. Destroying power plants, communications and transportation contributes massively to reducing the combat effectiveness of your opponent. We want say they aren't valid targets because citizens rely on them, but that's about as valid as saying Israel bombs hospitals because terrorists are hiding in there. When the entire society is organized to be a death machine run by its citizens, attacking anything that stops that machine becomes legitimizable.

[–] Pistcow@lemm.ee 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Or the Israeli tactic, hospitals and aid stations.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 7 months ago

First they take out food, water, power, etc. and bomb the fuck out of civilians. When those civilians retreat to the only places they can reasonably believe to be safe, hospitals, mosques, schools, for shelter or treatment then the IOF bombs them.

Just first bombing the hospitals would be barbarism. Israel took it to the next level of evil-ass shit and first ensures the hospitals are overwhelmed with refugees and patients before it bombs them.

[–] supersolid_snake@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 7 months ago

Fuck Israel. That's all.

I'm looking at Twitter and the feed id disturbingly similar to Oct 7th, with all the paid shills coming out to debunk any news of the attack while it's ongoing. They really don't like to look vulnerable.

Iran's mission to the UN has declared they are finished.

According to RT and Chinese news sources the US, UK, assorted axis of evil forces and the occupation mobilized fighters, deployed anti-air missiles and took out a large amount of targets.

I personally think they should have waited longer and struck more decisively, the zionists can't stay on guard forever.

Update: Biden has stated to the press that the US helped Isn'treal down nearly all Iranian missiles. (Reminder: Iran told the US not to get involved)

Should this end up escalating into a broader regional conflict, then my thoughts go out to a certain someone in Isr*el right now. A very familiar type of deeply and to some extent willfully ignorant, faux-progressive liberal Z*onist, who nevertheless hates Isr*eli society to such a point where they usually refuse to even label themself or be labeled as Isr*eli, and in fact half-jokingly asked for one's hand in a marriage of convenience just to GTFO quicker. That familiar type of deeply idealist pick-me autistic non-binary person who one can't have a conversation any deeper than a centimeter with, because it near-invariably results in them saying something that one finds patently offensive. That type of person where one constantly wonders why they're even still on one's contact list, aside from the inertia of having known them for years, having assumed naïvely until recent revelations, that they had better politics; but where one also feels like this person has talents and some charm and doesn't necessarily intend to do harm, and in fact has plenty of personal struggles they're quietly working through — but is still just a deeply flawed human being, indoctrinated materially and spiritually into the society they grew up in as its apparently unwitting pawn, where the first step to their recovery would simply be their extraction from that society, because breaking through all the propaganda remains too difficult when it's materially reinforced.

You have a bunker, dear — everything you might experience in the coming while is only a small fraction of what your country has done to its natives and its neighbors, but I'm sure that some sort of cosmic justice on the scale of entire nations isn't much reassurance for you as a simple individual.

All your neighbors have bunkers, too — virtually everyone in Isr*el, really, and you've all trained for years and years to use those bunkers in case the missiles were to hit you for once... Now I might maintain that the bunkers and the training was all a part of maintaining this grotesque simulacrum that you regrettably must call your country of citizenship, not just as part of the militarization of society to make resistance to the colonial project more difficult, but in building and maintaining a whole national culture of isolation and fear and constant danger; but in the near future those bunkers are perhaps for the first time in your life going to actually be useful for you in their designed-for purpose.

I hope you stay safe for the coming nights and days, dear, and I believe you will; and I hope you get out of the country safely and quickly, and spend the rest of your life teaching English and Hebrew like you always wanted; and I hope you realize when you can finally look at Isr*el through non-Isr*eli eyes — when you live in a distinctly bunkerless country outside of the settler-colonial dynamic — just what absolute insanity it was that you were living under, and just how wrong half of your beliefs were. I hope that you will some day come to truly know yourself and your place in the world, having unlearned all propaganda and atoned for everything.

An old Iranian phrase: "this too shall pass".

What does all-out war between these two countries even look like? How does one invade if you don't share a border
