Video game endings may be some of the best in media, because you can affect them. Nonetheless, my top three are more straightforward, as in

  1. https://youtu.be/y6NGn9bA304?t=151 World Heroes 2 Jet Best Ending, because it's so random!

  2. Limbo of the Lost. The game, the myth! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URcvdDtnM_0

  3. Stack Columns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vufEmB3qSNA So bittersweet!

What are your favorites?

I like the rimworld ending where it slows to single digit fps and then crashes because I refuse to launch the ship.

(I very seldom bother finishing games)

Those 5,000 [redacted] leather cowboy hats aren't gonna sell them selves.

No I run it as a utopian anarchist commune

Outer Wilds. If you haven't played the game, don't look up the ending. It has to be experienced.

Disco Elysium as well.

NieR Automata, True Ending E. I'll never play it again, and I'll never forget it

Off the top of my head, Super Metroid and Braid endings both did something unusual and interesting for their time. Undertale as well, though that's already been mentioned.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (I'm counting the entire confrontation with Armstrong here)

Mass Effect 1 (yes I have rose tinted glasses)

Disco Elysium, obviously

This is really making me realize that most video games flub their endings.

I agree with this one. It's not deep or high brow or whatever, but it's really satisfying for the sci-fi action movie that game is. Also the ending song is a banger.

The end of MGS2 blew my mind as a teen.

Ocarina of Time and FFX, I remember playing them as they came out and the endings choked me up. Still do.

Serious answer: The vast majority of games that have an actual narrative fumble their ending. They usually start out strong and end half-finished. I guess something like Earthbound and Undertale have a satisfactory ending.

I really enjoyed the ending to Red Dead Redemption (the first one).

Very true to western style stories.

Some of the original Citizen Sleeper endings are really good, but I think that's muddied now with the DLC which are kind of meh.

OG FF7 always gets tears from me when Lifestream saves the planet.

1.) Nier Automata

2.) Yakuza 0 and Kiwami tied

3.) Yakuza 6

Each of them, I had streamed and cried. And even when playing on my free time these games give me that nostalgia feeling I hear people always talking about.
