This guy should try out for the US secret service. I hear they need some agents with situational awareness.

They don’t pay as well and expect you to die for a bigger douche.

In their defense, if I was responsible for Trump's security and I saw a rooftop random with a rifle... uh... no I didn't.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 7 points 3 months ago

The trouble is all the people saying that they saw a gun are Trump supporters and their grasp of reality is not exactly concrete is it?

I kind of believe they did see a shooter and then yelled incoherently about it and because no one understands anything they said just sort of ignored them.

I think it's neat he doesn't hurt the people, only separates

Yes, especially the fans' hands on Messi's shoulder, quite nice

That would really piss me off, people constantly trying to touch me like that.

It's so weird how strong the para-social effect is; it's almost like they think they own him in some way. Ugh. Can totally see how he needs a bodyguard for shit like that.

Yeah cool but a single edited video is not enough to prove that.

[–] Riven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You're right but also, this edit shows that at least a number of times he doesn't hurt them. At the very least we know that he does some thinking on how to handle certain situations, especially because a couple of these I 100 percent expected him to tackle people to the ground and instead he just holds them away. Pleasantly surprised.

If Messi's bodyguard was regularly roughing up fans, you'd have read about it

[–] Riven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago

Yep and I think one of the ones in the video was another player maybe? Would be bad if he roughed up another million dollar player too.

I love that Messi trusts the bodyguard so much that he doesn't even flinch at stuff, he knows his boy has him covered.

I need a boundary setter to walk around with me and set good boundaries with the people I interact with.

I would last maybe an hour in that job before I got distracted by a leaf or had a panic attack.

Ya but he is using proper escalation of force as taught by the "Use of force continuum" which is what law enforcement is taught and should follow but they are all little hitlers so they don't.

I assume they are only given a short lecture with a low bar quiz. The rest of the 21 weeks is spent in gym class and training in weapons.

A literal body guard, a de-handler if you will.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 months ago

Guard that body!

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 36 points 3 months ago

Good to see someone that is aware enough to know when to be gentle and when to be a beast.

[–] TriPolarBearz@lemmy.world 23 points 3 months ago

Fan: Touch tha Messi

Bodyguard: Nope. No touchy tha Messi

Some people are good at their job, then there's this.

[–] s08nlql9@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

[–] Prestron@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Weird Al’s body guard is even worse at his job. Even worse as in Weird Al’s Even Worse.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago
