My "I strive to put humanity above all considerations" t-shirt is making people ask me a lot of questions already answered by the t-shirt

What the fuck?

Apparently I missed this story. Not really surprising though. Remember that time... last year... when Disney outmaneuvered and embarrassed the entire legal team dispatched by a certain Florida governor? I guess my brain sucks because I think normal people see that and go "ha! Suck a fat one DeStinky!" and I just think "wait... how and why is a corporation able to totally outflank and embarrass an apparently determined state actor?" Even if he's a giant sack of dogshit, which he is, it should still raise a million red flags when corporations are outwardly flexing the power they hold.

Oh well, this is probably all fine.

Hey even a broken clock is right twice a day. Disney clearly shouldn’t be that powerful, but at least this one instance was for some decent stuff

"Disney has decided to waive its right to arbitration" means "we will 100% try this bullshit again, but one bad media wave costs more than this settlement ever could."

"We NOW performatively acknowledge your humanity if it looks bad for us until you consume enough treats to forget this ever happened."

[-] roux@hexbear.net 38 points 2 months ago

They are only doing this because this whole thing went above the media hype meter threshold.

turning a big dial that says "human meat grinder" on it and constantly looking back at the audience for approval like a contestant on the price is right

[-] roux@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

Gonna turn this idea into a torture porn horror movie, brb.

And also inb4 rich chuds call it a commentary on how bad socialism is when it's obvs a commentary on capitalism considering the source material...

You know shit looks bad when you gotta acknowledge your commitment to humanity

[-] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

real shit whichever lawyer or team of lawyers tried to pull this "you signed your rights away by using the disney+ trial 4 years ago" shit needs to be put in a cage. you can not have people like this walking around influencing others. think about the sick shit that must be in their heads for them to even consider that

Corporate lawyers are Goons according the Graeber. Workers who only exist at one company because they exist at the competition. The corporate equivalent of a standing army to rival the neighboring kingdoms.

The lawyer is Fulgencio Batista’s grandson

[-] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

[-] REgon@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

They're not lying. They just don't consider us to be human

[-] Parzivus@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

That DiscussingFilm account cracks me up because 99% of the time it uses very neutral tone but occasionally they let their interests slip. Big Wallace and Gromit fan

As the very old and very ironic Polish saying go "A humane milord"

[-] Sabbo@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

I'm not a lawyer, but courts should be allowed to submit vibes as evidence. Like, the case may be unrelated to it, but disney did (insert one of the MANY shitty things disney has done)
