OK so I havent played this game in like 8? Years. Maybe more. It was my first experiance with gacha, and I hated that aspect. I only bought a pull once and it felt so bad I never did again.

But like, underneath the gacha elements? Really cool game actually. Cool visuals, actually has like a whole ass story in there, mechanics are neat.

I guess the JP server is continuing like what happened with Record Keeper. But god I WISH theyd just release an offline retail version that lets me keep my (very old now) account information, and more important lets the people who are still playing do that.

That's a remarkable lifespan for a Squenix game compared to, say, Chocobo Racing.

Squenix is held together by FFXIV and sort of assumes FFXIV is redundant and keeps making new "live service" garbage that dies early (sometimes begins dying as soon as it comes out!) and for the moment the FFXIV glue is holding the mess together. For the moment. so-far

Much like Dragalia Lost I expect that some group will make private servers for this as I understand it was a pretty popular game. I imagine the timeline for that will take a while, but hopefully the game being in the hands of the community will breathe some new life into it like many other games who end up being fan-run.

Thats my hope yeah. I downloaded my data (despite not playing in almost a decade lmao) just in case this ends up happening.

Close the servers, sure, but just make the game offline and complete the story if it hadn't finished.

Boom, people can play the game on their own with easier free gacha pulls and then you give closure to people who maybe never got to finish it and you can rerelease it as what happens to most games.

Yeah this is what i want for this and what I wanted for Record Keeper. The "deleting your accounts" thing seems pretty final though lmao. Which majorly sucks. Both of those games deserved to be preserved in some offline state because they had a lot of cool things about them.

I guess Record Keeper is actually still going in Japan servers and that will be the case for this game too. But it sucks for the rest of us lol.
