The Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, were a series of coordinated attacks carried out by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) from the Gaza Strip in areas bordering Israel on October 7, 2023. The attacks marked the beginning of the war between Israel and the Gaza Strip that continues to this day.

Operation al-Aqsa Flood was a significant turning point in the Palestinian struggle, marking the most fundamental change in the philosophy of resistance since the First Intifada (1987). The Palestinians, who for many decades thought that they would end the occupation and establish an independent state thanks to the support of the Arab world, realized by the mid-1970s that the Arabs would not take the necessary steps in this regard.

The leadership of the Palestinian resistance realized that the only path to progress depended on their own will and initiative, and launched a massive uprising against Israel with the power of its people. The First Intifada, therefore, led to a significant paradigm shift in the Palestinian resistance. Rather than waiting for a move from the international community or the Arab world, the local struggle against the occupying Zionist regime, albeit with limited means, could enable Palestine to make gains toward independence.

This new strategy also allowed the Palestinian resistance to institutionalize and build a strong identity. Moreover, the establishment of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) at the beginning of the First Intifada signaled that not only a methodological but also an ideological transformation would take place in the Palestinian resistance. As a matter of fact, in the following years, Hamas’ conception of the political order, the methods it used, the discourse it produced, and its clear stance against the Israeli occupation resulted in this movement finding a response throughout Palestine and becoming one of the most powerful actors in Palestinian political life

Hamas’ determined strategy over the years and the combat experience of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades allowed for the launch of an operation against Israel from Gaza. The operation, which began on the morning of October 7, marked a paradigm shift in the aftermath of the First Intifada. The Gazan resistance elements, led by the Qassam Brigades, shifted from a defensive model of resistance against Israeli attacks to an offensive strategy of multi-pronged infiltration. In addition, establishing a “joint operation center” of 12 different resistance groups to fight against the occupation forces in a coordinated manner was also noteworthy in uniting all Palestinian groups against the common enemy

As the first hours of Operation al-Aqsa Flood sent shockwaves through the Israeli side, the first signs of psychological damage also surfaced. For years, the Israeli state has created a convincing myth about the effectiveness and competence of its intelligence units. The undermining of the general belief that any action posing a threat to Israel inside or outside Palestine would be detected in advance and necessary measures would be taken constituted the first leg of psychological damage that started on October 7.

In addition to the failure of the potent intelligence myth after the operation, another myth that collapsed was related to the Iron Dome air defense system. The Iron Dome, widely regarded as one of the most potent air defense systems in the world, failed to fully defend Israel from thousands of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades missiles. This meant that even points far from Gaza could now threatened by the resistance. The failure of the system it had built has caused more damage than ever to Israel’s state machinery and society. In addition, the neutralization of a large number of army officers and the capture of hundreds of prisoners in the first hours of the operation shows how Operation al-Aqsa Flood dismantled the Israeli security apparatus.

The operation Al-Aqsa Flood and its subsequent local, regional and global repercussions, restored the Palestinian cause to its pivotal position on the Arab, regional and international levels, placing it in a central position amongst the general public as a liberation struggle against colonialism and uprooting racism. This provides an exceptional historical opportunity to reestablish the Palestinian cause on the international level as liberation struggle, facing the most unjust racist colonial aims in modern and contemporary history. This significant issue places a heavy load on not only the liberation activists, but also all the vigorous social actors around the world, especially in the Arab region, who bear the responsibility to take action. Those people are obliged to pursue all possible means to support the Palestinian cause and keep pace with the global solidarity with this cause at various political, diplomatic, legal, media, cultural and intellectual levels.

After growing up in tornado alley and one of the coldest places in the US, learning to exercise caution in inclement weather is a no brainer to me. I simply cannot understand anyone on the East Coast's behavior regarding this weather. Are tornados and hypothermia deadlier than these hurricanes and flooding? Is the Southeast so accustomed to the feds coming in to bail them out they've garnered a certain hubris to these storms? I don't get it, get to safety people!

So if I asked you about edging, you'd probably give me the skinny on every gooning theory book ever written. Finkelstein, you know a lot about him. Life's work, political aspirations, him and Destiny, the whole works, right? But I'll bet you can't tell me what it smells like in a goon cave. You've never actually stood there and looked up at that beautiful ceiling.

As a moving around a lot and thinking of the world as a single community that is fractured but could be made whole guy, and a studying humaniry on a quasi-professional basis guy, small town Americans who think their special little slice of heaven is the most unique and beutiful and goodedest place and outsiders and migrants and new residents are the source of everything bad and the problems they have related to global struggles are unique to their area or uniquely oppressive have really begun to unhinge me.

Like no, this is just another place, it's not special, you're caughjt up in the same global crap as everyone else, housing prices are absurd across the anglosphere, and your special regional carnival restaurant serves the same slop as every diner in america. please leave your home town or at least subscribe to whatever is like national geographic now and learn a little about the world so you can see yourself as a human and not a parochial treat demon living in the center of the entire universe, which is your small town in west bumfuck nebraska.

I don't get pools.

I'm not talking about the large public pools half filled with piss, I'm talking private home pools that are probably too small for exercise swimming. It uses so much resources and space, and for what? So you can have an extra gimmick at parties? Bourgeois decadence.

Redesigning the pseudo-legendary Pokemon because gamefreak have bad taste.

spoiler because this is long

Dragonite is kinda whatever as a pseudo, but it was gen 1 and they didn't have any plans for pseudos to be a category. Its a nice all-rounder, can work on the special side if it needs to, has a good competitive niche in gen 9 as the strongest extreme speed user.

Tyranitar nailed it. 10/10, awesome design, great stats, great ability. Arguably the best pseudo of all time competitively

Metagross is awesome, take like 15 stats out of its special defense and put it in hp and it becomes a lot more competitively viable. Great design and one of the only non-dragons, so it gets points for that. Salamence is the platonic ideal of a dragon type in Pokemon and very powerful, it doesn't need any changes.

Garchomp is cool but has been powercrept, even though it had incredible stat spread when it came out. Maybe take HP down from 108 to 100 and put those 8 points into speed, bringing it up to a more respectable 110. Salamence is the ideal of a cool dragon but Garchomp has always been the awesomely powerful dragon to me. But take that weird yellow star off it's head.

Hydreigon is so cool but the evolution levels are way too high. Make Deino evolve at level 25-30 and Zweilous at level 45-50. Also take out 30 points from its attack, 102 physical is way too high for a special attacker, and spread it across special attack, special defense and speed, maybe bring it to 105 speed. Very cool design, and the last dragon-type pseudo I will accept.

Goodra is cute, shouldn't have been a pseudo. I like the idea of a defensive dragon type and a defensive pseudo, but the fact that this is the fourth dragon-type pseudo annoys me. Aegislash is easily the coolest mon in Kalos so make that a pseudo, but I am scared to give it 100 more stat points because its already so strong. Uhh idk, its an incredibly minmaxed mon so giving it more BST makes it extremely op. Maybe 35 into speed to bring it up to 95, and 65 into hp to make the shield forme unkillable.

Kommo-o feels so boring, probably one of the least favourite pseudos in the fandom. It just has a kinda boring design when Garchomp already exists. Anyway, the obvious thing to do is make Vikavolt a pseudo by giving it 100 points in speed, bringing it up to 160 to match its dex entries that say its super fast. 160 speed 145 special attack is incredibly powerful, but it doesn't have any super-powerful moves, and also we deserve an incredibly powerful bug type.

Dragapult has a pretty cool design but I can't bring myself to feel anything for it. There are just too many dragon types that try to look cool, and Dragapult is really trying to look cool. Coalossal is the best fit to be a pseudo from Galar, although Hatterene and Grimmsnarl could also work. Put 45 stat points into its attack and 45 into its special attack to make a mixed attacker with overheat and rock slide that works really well in trick room but is super slow outside of it. Steam engine is a cool ability and seems fitting for a pseudo

Baxcalibur is dripless. The worst pseudo by far. Its pre evolutions look like a little nerd and then a creep, which are good, but then it evolves into some bald guy. There are actually not many three stage mons in Paldea, and the only one that has a powerful-looking design is Garganacl, but I don't wanna do another rock type, so fuck it, Tinkaton is a pseudo now. Yeah its a tiny pink think that doesn't fit in with all the other monsters, but its based and its my hypothetical list. Put 6 points into its speed, 60 into attack, and 34 into special attack, because this thing has an incredible defensive typing and does not need more bulk. Also take away Gigaton Hammer because that was an absurdly powerful move only balanced by the fact that Tinkaton has 70 attack.

I bet no one is gonna read this. Oh well.

feel like i need more non-app ways of meeting people. i've obviously gotten better at them since i started using them, but the free versions are all useless and this shit gets pricey, plus my tolerance for the chore of swiping has been super low lately. this goes for both friends and potential love interests (but god am i sick of being alone, being single after my divorce has been instructive in certain ways and i didn't get nothing out of it but i hate it and am super over it)

feeling super nostalgic lately and having a third-life crisis or something

i spent hours googling people i graduated high school with to see who is doing what and where. i don't talk to any of them, not even my old friends. i didn't find anything interesting.

i've also been watching hours of call of duty zombies and halo videos on youtube every day. that's what i grew up on. sucks to think that i will never silly halo custom games or SWAT like before. sadness

kind of want to try getting plugged into political organizing again but amerikkkan orgs suck and i also suck (bad at labor, feel like i'd be dead weight). is there any leftist-friendly volunteer work that isn't organizing as such? idk, mutual aid like Food Not Bombs or some shit? i have to do something about this feeling of being completely isolated from anything bigger than myself and from community.
