Post title: Don't Panic, Organize: Meeting the Moment of Trump's Second Term

Comment: I'm not responding to shit. You guys voted for this so I'm coasting by on my middle class white privilege from now on. I tried to reinforce the dam and everyone around me decided to blow it up instead. Now it's time to sink or swim on your own. I'm not wasting any more time trying to help people who won't help themselves.

I’ve done nothing and I’m all out of ideas. Or whatever.

I gotta remember to make this an emoji when I get to my computer

the scratched lib screetching and weirdly depressive and confused statements are not something I expected to see quite so much of this go around.

like a lot of people outing themselves as suddenly interested in universal solidarity but also angry that their coalition to completely sell out Palestinians--and eagerly embroil us all in the expanding MENA settle colonial project--wasn't able to pull it off.

like goddam, the mourning is kind of offensive. I'm not jumping down anyone's throat about it--though I want to--because obviously they are all in their feelings of nostalgia for a future that never arrived and have deeply internalized lib propaganda that conflated democrats with actually giving a shit about minorities, civil rights, workers, climate change, etc.

but Jesus, the ignorance on display is DEEP.

I think we need to remember that the extremely online libs are freaks. I doubt most libs have particularly developed thoughts about this. At least I hope so. I really hope no serious percentage of Liberals has gone "Welp, guess I'm a fascist now, better go buy a white hood".

White liberals understanding solidarity and basic fucking empathy challenge: IMPOSSIBLE

cracker

I like how they pretend that they were doing something before, and then they also pretend that voting is doing something.

Bro looked at exit polls and is like "well im white so guess i am fascist!" And is going with that

i'm convinced white liberals were actually hoping for this outcome so they could finally take their mask off and be the white nationalists they always wanted to be

edit: where are they even getting the idea that voter turnout is lacking strictly because of minorities? makes me think they've just been waiting to pull the trigger on this one

I don't think there worldview is coherent enough. I think the sub-set of liberals who have gone turbo-Klan are reacting to the massive upset and suddenly finding everything they believed about the world annihilated on the anvil of "materialism rules everything around me".

I'm not an engineer, but I'm pretty sure the phrase "from now on" was not designed to do this kind of heavy lifting.

I put my cisgender pronouns in my corporate email signature and THIS is how you repay my bravery?

[–] Palacegalleryratio@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

“I tried to reinforce the dam” = I did literally nothing except for vote Biden then Harris.

[–] TheDoctor@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

Big difference between checking your privilege and leaning into it, eh?

[–] Des@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

No, it's a shortcut to moderator actions which as an instance admin shows up on all comments for me.

I'm coasting on my middle class white privilege

For how much longer? The point we've been making about mutual aid and organizing your workplace is because everything's getting more expensive and difficult to get and the bourgeoisie aren't going to come to our rescue.
