Summary

Masked neo-Nazis marched through Columbus, Ohio’s Short North neighborhood on Saturday, displaying swastika flags and making racist and antisemitic statements.

Police are investigating, and no arrests have been reported.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Columbus officials condemned the display, emphasizing that hate and bigotry have no place in the state.

The incident follows a similar demonstration in Michigan last week, where masked protesters displayed Nazi flags outside a performance of The Diary of Anne Frank.

Oh hell no. Place 2x4s in a place they'll accidentally walk into them. Like your hands at their eye level with a runneng start.

[–] Mwa@lemm.ee 2 points 39 minutes ago

Tbh why are these neo-nazis soo cringe tho.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 7 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Trump will pardon them, so there's gonna be a fuckton more of this shit over the next four years. Likely progressively worse as we go.

I think it's incorrect to link all the January 6th protestors with actual Neo-Nazis and that sort of hyperbole was part of the reason Democrats were out of touch with how regular people felt. Neo-Nazis are partly increasing because of the memification of racism, giving racism a more viral quality, combined with how fast society is changing and people incorrectly making sense of it through racism.

Unless they violated a federal crime and are convicted of it, Trump can't do shit.

Can of Surströmming, pull tab, throw.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 13 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Throw paint on them. Follow them to their car. Take a picture of their license plate. Its easier to follow them after you dump a pail of paint on them

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Sure, because there was no warning of this crap display of cowardice (masks), & everyone just happens to carry cans of paint around to do such a thing. 🙄

Police said the individuals were "armed with firearms."

Yup.

No they won't. It's posturing. Be careful around them, but if they shoot you for throwing paint then there's going to be a big crackdown on them. They don't want that. The guns are part of the show (and potentially to defend against other armed attacks).

[–] Princeali311@lemm.ee 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm not saying they will shoot you, just simply pointing out what the point is that op asked about.

I will never again wonder how a group like the KKK was able to form, thrive, and persist for so long, inside the USA.

So glad I don't live there. I'm worried about you all.

Good luck.

[–] GuyDudeman@lemmy.world 12 points 7 hours ago

I'm worried about us too. What the ever-loving fuck, man.

[–] projectsquared@lemmy.world 17 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I live here and do not understand how it is allowed to happen.

Because the civil war losers were never held to account, allowing this shit to continue festering underneath the veneer of American society.

[–] mortemtyrannis@lemmy.ml 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Sherman should have finished the job.

His weakness was sympathising with southerners.

[–] nomous@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago

Traitors should've been hanged. Their lands should've been confiscated and given to newly freed peoples, 40 acres and a mule and all that. Reconstruction failed in large part because the traitorous, racist losers were allowed to go home and start implementing Jim Crow laws instead of being held accountable.

That they and their descendants were allowed to live out their days peacefully pretending their cause was somehow noble and honorable and not just chattel slavery is a crime that persists to this day in the systemic racism throughout our government.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 1 points 6 hours ago

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 61 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Let me guess: there were good people on both sides in that masked group.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

the masked group is just one of the sides
