05

Steady, simple, centre handle. Hopefully they're not to scale and it's got some volume to it

[–] huf@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

doesnt matter as long as it's wide enough that a) i can fit my big nose in it while drinking from it and b) i can fit my big hands in it while cleaning it

i hate mugs/glassware for small nosed people.

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You know what they say: The bigger the nose, the bigger the... mug.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

i dont think my nose is even exceptionally big, it's just average european big :D my hands are certainly not extremely wide, there are plenty of people with smaller palm length to width ratios. but there are just so many glasses on the market that are only cleanable with a brush. it's insane.

18 at a desk or other crowded place, huge volume, difficult to knock over.

The real answer is 22 or one of the 40s. The closer it is to a sphere the smaller its ratio of surface area to volume is, which helps hold heat. Also the smaller opening at the top of the sphere (compared say to number 25) also helps reduce heat loss.

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

This is exactly the correct answer. 22/40 ftw.

I know at first glanced the curved handle just looks pretentious, but this style is actually super ergonomical. Your thumb sits in a much more natural position with the top of the handle angled that way instead of the traditional straight handle. Only downside is they don’t work for left-handed people.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My only gripe here is that narrow base. All the weight is up high. Reverse the ratio, keep the handle.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

There’s other ones out there with a less extreme ratio, this was just the first example I found.

[–] dom@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

i have absolutely no idea when but i must have encountered #15 before. the sight of that blasted me with more warmth and familiarity than should be possible for a fucking mug lmao

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

5, efficient and no nonsense.

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

Anything with either a handle that fits all 4 fingers, or no handle at all.

[–] woodenghost@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

20 or one of the 38's

[–] LastoftheDinosaurs@reddthat.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

14

I like the handle and think it'd be better to hold

5, 10 or 40. I really like round things you can sip from

[–] Nacarbac@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

18 and 22 are closest, but mine is even flatter at the base. Very stable, and mine doesn't seem to slosh around much.

[–] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

One of 5, 6, 10, 17, 18, 28, 31, 38.

All the others are anxiety inducing because they're top heavy and too easy to knock over.

[–] Wolfman86@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

The Sports Direct mug, obviously.

But I can’t stand SD cause of its owner. Tough one.

[–] macabrett@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I am most intrigued by 14, I don't know that I need the bottom of the handle and I feel like it often gets in the way of my larger hands.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

14 is a winner for tea. Nice solid handle, none of that slippery curve nonsense.

[–] PointAndClique@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago
[–] mechwarrior2@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

05 or 28 optimal handle shape

[–] Taster_Of_Treats@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

I like 11 as long as the vessel isn't square shaped.

If I can't fit all 4 of my fingers in there I'm pissed, and that's 95% of mugs.

[–] TrashGoblin@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

Specifically for raktajino.
