I seriously want to see how the western media will backpedal when Ukraine runs out of manpower and inevitably loses the war. I wonder if it'll come in the form of accusations of corruption and retconning the narrative so that the nazi problem was there all along, despite current efforts to downplay it.
I'm not particularly angry or stumped about this, but I agree that it should be the user's choice. I value freedom, especially regarding software, and I'd much rather have an OS that lets me delete the root folder than one that does not let me delete system32, even if I never intend on doing any of those things. In much the same way, I think I should get to decide how much I am willing to protect a particular account. What github should do is point to the option of using 2FA and recommend it, with a brief explanation, not requiring it as policy.
Existe um prazo para deletar conteudo antigo e que pode ser configurado pelo admin da instância, eu particularmente sou contrário a utilizar esse artificio aqui, pois na minha opinião, é contrario ao proposito de substituir o reddit enquanto uma base de conhecimento. Talvez com uma ampla utilização da wiki, a gente possa adotar esse modelo uma vez que o conteudo importante seria transferido de forma organizada para lá.
Também não gosto da ideia, pelo mesmo motivo. Mas imagino que uma parte importante do propósito de arquivar conhecimento seja especialmente relevante aos posts de texto e não tanto às imagens, visto que muitas são memes. Claro, não quero avaliar que tipo de conhecimento é melhor, mas imagino que a maioria das pessoas vai querer revisitar um guia em texto do que um meme de anos atrás.
Fico pensando se o Lemmy permite essa seleção e, se não, temos a wiki, que acho que foi uma ótima ideia de implementar, considerando que o Lemmy não tem essa função.
Quanto a sustentabilidade do servidor, a moderação do r/Brasil tem atuado ativamente para garantir que os serviços continuem operando indefinitivamente. Futuramente, caso seja necessario, adicionaremos uma forma de contribuição dos usuários por meio de doações, fazendo uso de alguma plataforma transparente como o libera pay.
Isso seria muito bom. Gosto do modelo comunitário e colaborativo que os servidores do Fediverso têm adotado, num geral. Nesse sentido, também aplaudo a escolha de utilizar programas de código aberto. Esse é um compromisso que acho muito importante, não só para a instância, mas para a internet continuar sendo um lugar livre, o que tem sido mais e mais relevante, por motivos diversos.

Particularly regarding my question about "replacing Google Maps", this was an illuminating answer. I've come from GMaps, and it kind of formed my notion of what a map program or site should be. I've never used the review system very much, preferring to make use of the public transport functionalities. This is, as far as I'm aware, not in the scope of OSM, so I found myself missing this feature, through no fault of the project at all.
Again, thanks for the answer. It really helps to recontextualize how I should think about OSM and the open source projects surrounding it.

Can you point to something I can read on this? I don't want this to sound like "I doubt what you're saying", I just know little about Japan after WWII and didn't think full scale genocides were going on. Of course, even after the wars, Japan does not have the best record regarding, uh, being nice to other ethnic groups.

Which, with all due respect, is the entire point of saying what your image is "disproving". As it stands, the image only serves as propaganda to concerned citizens who think that the resources their government is spending could be better used.
And before you dismiss this as some kind of "tankie" talking point, the majority of Americans think their government shouldn't be spending as much on Ukraine. The massively inflated budget for "Defense" could very well be redirected to aid in the context of a domestic disaster.
