Tensions are at an unprecedented high between Ecuador and Mexico after Ecuatorian police literally broke into the mexican embassy violating the viena convention to arrest a political refugee, Jorge Glas, former Correa's VP, who is currrently undergoing a legal process in Ecuador after allegedly being involved in a chargeback scheme involving Odebrecht (though no evidence was ever produced for this claim, except a single testimony from Odebrecht's former CEO). The immediate backdrop for this, well, happening, is AMLO putting into question the legitimacy of Ecuador's upcoming general election in one of his daily briefings after a presidential candidate was fucking murdered and AMLO attempting to give asylum to Glas. This is nuts, international law doesn't exist anymore, it's a brand new world Israel has dragged everyone onto, and only might makes right. Maybe I'll put my ideas in order, I dunno. Happy Friday friends, take care.

It's high time we have one of these threads! Post what you liked, what you didn't like, recommendations for stuff released on 2023, whatever you want. I'm trying to speedrun like a million albums because so much stuff was dropped this year and I just wasn't in the mood for keeping track of it but here are my picks for best albums of 2023 from the stuff I did get around to listen:

World's End Girlfriend - RESISTANCE & THE BLESSING (post rock, glitch)

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - PetroDragonic Apocalypse (thrash metal, stoner metal)

Chini.png - El Día Libre de Polux (art pop, shoegaze)

Full of Hell, Nothing - When No Birds Sang (sludge, post metal)

Klein - Star in the Hood (Sound Collage)

private/self-hosted smtp servers i imagine. it just doesn't strike me that these email services that offer free inboxes would be any good for privacy concerns (proton mail, tutanota, whatever). but they're good to sign up for shit i suppose.

it's always been baffling to me how gamers cried when roger ebert said video games weren't art but violently react when video games are elevated on an emotional and/or aesthetic level

these takes are weird, Somerton was being cited as an authority on queer topics outside of the youboob sphere, which makes his takedown a bit more bigger than a beef between online types. dude was not only a plagiarist, he was also a known falsifier. it's just plain old academic dishonesty, the sort of thing that would make the news if this had happened on an actual campus. we're now in an era where bonafide pundits are taking fucking video essays at face value, B-list celebs like Neil Gaiman find out Hbomb uploaded a new video hours after it gets posted. Somerton's channel was going to be his platform towards building a movie studio ffs. we're in a new world where youtube is mainstream and things that happen there are now felt in meatspace.

I stopped caring for him when he refused to review Hey QT and called it "chipmunk music" only to walk back his opinions completely a few years later when he noticed PC Music had gained a noticeable cult following. He even overcorrected and started giving inflated scores to complete mid shit that sounded faintly of hyperpop. Anyone is entitled to their shit opinions, but Fantano has always striked me as dishonest on top of it.

Fantano gave my AOTY a 1/10 and it made me feel like a contrarian again, man it feels so good.

i bought the thing because the cans look kinda cool tbh, not even the tea shit, the sparkling water which is virtually indistinguishable from any other sparkling water brand except 3x more expensive. it's rare that i come across liquid death on the shelves anyway so it's not like something i'm going to keep buying. it's just a novelty item mostly.

maybe not in the states, that official banking app supports android versions all the way back to Android 6.0, the last android version supported by the OP5T is 10, so on that regard it was fine at least. you'd be surprised at how far back you can go compatibility-wise without breaking stuff with android's first party compat libraries.

god if he was using a 3rd party app I would have fucking showed up at his doorstep at 12am and force him to update all his credentials.

I bought a monoprice subwoofer for like 100 bucks, and I'm pairing it up with a Fosi Audio V3, which also goes for like 150-200 bucks to replace an old subwoofer/amp that got busted and it sounds incredibly good for an audio setup that totalled like 300 at most. you could probably get these for even cheaper maybe.

Due to WFH shenanigans, I've been working out from home for almost 6 months now using a treadmill and a pair of adjustable dumbells. And while I'm making some modest but non-negligible gains on my chest and have lost considerable fat on the waist, I've also been losing fat on my glutes at an alarming rate. This is no joke, my ass is looking flat and unsexy. I've been using this dumbbell program, and it works out well enough for upper body, but I just don't feel it in my glutes, the squats simply don't go heavy enough and I can't really fit a squat rack in my small apartment. Does anyone have an alternative exercise that trains glutes? Do resistance bands work? What do you recommend for butt
