I kinda see what OP is saying and empathize a little bit. I mean it really is how you view it I guess.

I can't believe I'm reading this here and I'm not convinced you aren't a troll.

Also, it seems like both your accounts are about the same age.

lol. Ok, troll.

Ok now you're wrecker-jacketing. Gonna report this.

in addition to capitalism and imperialist wars holding society back, technology is not like a linear video game progression, everything is subject to the law of diminishing returns.

Yeah but hasn't the history of scientific progress shown that every time we think we're at a stagnation point, a breakthrough discovery is made that shatters the old paradigm?

Ok, first of all, I think you handled it well. The worst thing you could have done was instinctively say something like "nu uh!! that sounds like western propaganda!" and then be completely proven wrong and forever lose credibility in that lib's (hopefully future leftist's) eyes.

Second, know your shit at least. It's pretty well known that Xi himself traveled to the US as young man. He has ties to some Iowa town or something. (https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/16/world/asia/xi-jinping-of-china-makes-a-return-trip-to-iowa.html)

Third, if someone ever brings that dumb shit about his daughter up again, just mention how Tim Walz taught English in China and basically loves China (though he has super lib views on Tienanmen, Tibet, "organ harvesting", etc.). (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/11/us/tim-walz-china.html)

I dunno, I don't really see her caste status as a big factor in her political rise/career. Also, she's not really the "settler" since she was born here right? It would be her parents that are the "settlers"? But wouldn't "immigrants" be more appropriate for her parents? It's not like they came here to dispossess the natives of anything. I think you're really stretching your analysis here with both the "Brahmin" and "settler" thing. She's bad, but not because of those reasons.

I see what you're saying, but ultimately I think it doesn't have to do with the violence itself and more to do with the overall way in which we frame things. For example, no matter how hard a creator might try to make something seem "brutal" or "anticapitalist," there's gonna be people that interpret it completely the other way. Kind of like the "Squid Game is actually pretty cool! Also it's pro capitalist and anti communist!"

Same thing for violence I think. Like past and current indigenous cultures are very close to "violence" when it comes to things like hunting and slaughtering livestock for food, but you didn't see the kind of brutal violence you're talking about until things colonialism/imperialism.

I could see a future communist society that doesn't have issues with real life violence but still has action movies and video games. It doesn't really seem like a contradiction to me.

Like I see some ppl saying that they are "taking back" the "weird" thing and using it against conservatives because they hate it. But that's exactly the same reasoning that was used with the Trump Putin kissing shit. "Yeah we're using it aGaInSt Putin!" It was still homophobic. And I get the same feeling with this "weird" shit.

Plus, do the liberals actually give a shit about "weird" ppl like LGBT, nerds, anime fans, social outcasts, etc.? Absolutely not. They are just weaponizing this shit. But when it no longer suits them, they'll call anti-genocide Gaza protesters "weird."

So anyways I'm not really up for celebrating the "weird" shit. It might be funny to see conservatives cringe (for the time being, for all we know this shit might blow over), but I just get icky vibes from the whole thing.

You can also go climb a tree, it means the same as voting. Actually climbing a tree would objectively be better cuz at least you'll get exercise.

As a 40 year old voter I can say things have changed.

Does anyone actually say "rightist"? Sounds like some "oh yeah, if we're leftists, then YOU'RE RIGHTISTS!! HAHA THE PEN IS MIGHTER THAN THE SWORD MLADY!!"

[-] muslimmarxist@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago

If they are going to violate labor laws anyway, why don't you just do it anyway as well? All I'm saying is do something.

Cool go do an adventurism then LOLOLOLOOLOLOLOL.

With JD Vance and all the fake populism, and now this. I don't see any other path than the fascist one. Might be best to start looking at options to flee this hellhole.

UPDATE: They now have on a member of the Steamfitters union who is a "lifelong Democrat"... Yeah it's pretty much over

The underlying premise is that "these dumb sand people are too stupid to have carefully planned and executed a complex mission, the truth is that wE kNeW aBoUt It in advance but no one listened. Here take a look at these 'secret reports' by unnamed intelligence officials."

It reminds me of the ancient alien shit of how "there's no way the stupid ancient egyptian skull brains could have made the pyramids, it must have been advanced aliens who showed them!"

Or another thing I hear is "Israel has the most advanced spying network, hOw cOuLd ThEy NoT hAvE kNoWn???" Ok well the resistance fighters completely owning all their "high tech" shit (or how Hezbollah sent a drone over big cities and completely avoided the Iron Dome) proves that maybe their systems were actually shit and not really "advanced" in the first place.

Another thing ppl might say is "well why would Israeli media leak or talk about it? wouldn't that make them look bad? thus maybe it's true?" Think about it, what looks worse: completely getting owned or saying "oh yeah we knew about it but someone forgot to mention it up the chain." They're obviously lying to make themselves look better. I hate that some commentators I see know that Israeli media lies but then when it comes to these "bombshell" reports they completely believe them. It's sad, because it plays into the racist trope that the Palestinians are actually stupid and any military victories are "actually we knew about it but stumbled somewhere"

This fucking article.

But Dr Eric Westman, who posts reaction videos to medical news stories on his YouTube channel, argues that novel therapies such as this miss the point, which is that he sees patients’ diabetes go into remission all the time. And it doesn’t take advanced stem cell therapy to “cure” the condition.

Ah ok so if cancer goes into remission, then it's all good. No need to "cure" it. FUCK OFF

Dr Eric Westman, who produces reaction videos on YouTube for his 200K subscribers, recognizes the achievement of the researchers but argues we already know how to “cure” type 2 diabetes. And to do so we don’t need expensive, high-tech therapies.

He emphasizes the power of dietary changes for their ability to reduce, or even eliminate, symptoms of diabetes. Diabetes UK’s top 10 tips for dietary management of diabetes include choosing healthier carbohydrates and cutting down on sugar.

“Remission of diabetes is one year of no evidence of diabetes. I see that routinely. Cure of diabetes is defined as five years with no evidence of diabetes, and I see that as well. These are standard definitions used.”

“So this isn’t the first time that diabetes has been ‘cured’,” he says. But it is the first time pancreatic function has been restored in such a way that allows patients to eat whatever they want.

Ok this "doctor" (I hesistate to call him that) needs his license revoked. He's essentially going head-first into victim blaming and personal responsibility bullshit. Everyone in the fucking world knows that a healthy diet and exercise is good, but that is a million times harder when you already have a condition like diabetes. A fucking cure is a good thing, not just some cheat code that allows people to "eat whatever they want" (which btw after being cured of diabetes they should have the fucking right to do).

Once again another example of China does amazing thing, and Westoids respond with "but at what cost?" Honestly I hope other countries copy the shit out of this and lower the cost.

The "recognition" from the UN in 1948 took place when most of Africa was colonized and many of the countries in the global south were essentially bullied into it. So it's all good that the world is on the side of Palestine, but Palestine is more than just the '48 or '67 borders or whatever

I highly doubt those protestors actually give a fuck about the Palestinians, Gaza, or the occupied West Bank (besides the fact that Israel itself is an occupation). They just want the hostages back and don't like Netanyahu.

But the media is gonna spin this as though it's just "bad apples" like Netanyahu that are the problem and if they were removed it'll be all good.

Immediately stomp an insect when they see one inside the house. It's like a reflex or impulse and honestly it's kinda scary seeing an otherwise nice person just stomp an insect or spider or whatever in cold blood almost instantaneously. There's like no thought or contemplation, it's just see the insect, and then immediately stomp it.

Like holy shit what did that little critter do to you? Just let it be.

EDIT: Holy fuck the responses. I guess many didn't actually read what I wrote. I wrote that people who "immediately stomp" without "thought or contemplation" have fash tendencies and I get accused of fashjacketing. Ugh whatever. To those who had thoughtful responses (e.g. if you feel something stinging your skin and swat it with your hand, or if you have an infestation issue in your house, etc.), I gotta say those make sense and I hear you all the way (and even in those cases it's not like there's a kneejerk intentional kill response, it's usually accidental or done after careful deliberation). But to the ones complaining about fashjacketing, maybe do some self crit for fuck's sake. You sound exactly like the fucking man vs bear defender types or a white fragility type, Jesus... It makes me actually think you do have fash tendencies tbh.
