Same feelings as I have about the T slur for trans people if I'm being honest, sorry. Basically I dont want to hear it, it hurts, but I dont begrudge people using it on themselves I guess

i do not like autist as ive only ever heard it used as a slur at me and others. the matter is far from settled and there is no "preferred nomenclature." you're supposed to ask people individually, which is great unless you're in a group - i think maybe "autistic" is fine, like "autistic people" but that's just my preference. if someone opened with "autists" i would absolutely tense up and probably not engage with what they were saying

Hard for me to say unfortunately, as I am a coder and also a gamer so I use my keyboard at least 8 hours a day, basically, so little things like hard trays + low profile chicklet keys, or hard to press rubber dome keys add up over time to hand issues for me.

Its like, if I'm sitting in a chair for 15 minutea generally I dont really care how comfortable it is, but if I'm using it for an hour my butt may fall asleep and I may have back pain.

I think people like mechanicals for a few reasons:

  1. Generally easier to type on for long periods (note that YMMV with this one, some people swear by the chicklet style Apple keyboards or the Logitech MX Keys, but they hurt me)
  2. A pleasant sensory experience (sound and looks here, even if its not loud it can still sound pleasant)
  3. Lots of customisability (lots of people like to get fun keycaps and experiment with different switches)
  4. And well, the joy of building/repairing/modding etc if you're into that.

But of course the downside is the price.

I don't remember seeing anything like that in Marx's work

lol you haven't even opened capital, have you?
