The American media propagated the idea that Yeltsin was "good" for Russia even as he helped oligarchs destroy the post-Soviet economy and drive the common people into desperate poverty. As long as the stocks go up, western media does not care how many poors die. Milei is doing IMF austerity on steroids, which is exactly what the global north wants, therefore Milei gets positive mainstream media coverage.
