I feel like at this point they could just not do really jokey jokes like that and just let the humor come from the characters. Only do gag kinda stuff if you know it'll bring the house down. I think they could just let these characters and actors deal with normal star trek stuff without the little comedy twists and it can come off better where the joke is their reaction and not trying to make a silly Sci fi concept sillier.
