I don't think the proper response is "do nothing," either.
To paraphrase Malcolm X, the knives should be pulled out of the descendants' backs so the wounds can heal. While I don't call for more knives, the wounds are still there and they are passed down generationally.
Yeah obviously I agree with that and Malcolm was spot on. I totally support Land Back initiatives. But I think usernamesaredifficul was responding to the way GarfieldYaoi phrased it. I'd be suprised if he thinks nothing should be done. Like hey if he thinks doing Land Back and/or reperations would be bad because it "punishes people for what their ancestors did" then thats obivously wrong and fuck him. But I think it was in response to Garf's idea that "evil" should be done.
I suppose I read GarfieldYaoi a little more generously even while not agreeing with the entirety of the direct message. Like when people say they want to do violence to the police and sometimes describe it in vivid fantastical ways. The police are intolerable in the present status quo and something should be done, yet while I agree with the mistrust and anger, I don't condone vivid fantastical graphical descriptions of that kind. I see it kind of like that in both cases.
Guess we're giving charitable interpretations to opposite people then lol. I can see what you meant though.
