Damn. I haven't heard this one in uni but I had a professor who was casually peddling Spengler and some other sus figures.

They literally think the Russian brainpan is incapable of comprehending democracy due to them assimilating Mongolo-Asiatic authoritarianism genes in the time they were under Mongol rule so probably, yeah.

coming soon to /r/landlords: As a Catholic landowner, how can I legally check that my tenants are not engaging in homosexual activities on my property?

This reminds me of a particularly cursed enshittification dream I had where I was in a bar restroom and the soap dispenser was blocked unless you downloaded their app and created an account.

I am sorry if this is something basic that has been discussed to death before but I feel like I need to get this out of my system before I ruin friendships by wishing centuries of humiliation on people for the way they play pretend.

I had a casual chat with a friend and fellow GM about our current campaigns and worldbuilding. At some point beast races come up and I mention I like gnolls and give a few short details about their society in my setting. In response I get an explanation that he can't have this kind of characterization because of Goebbles level bullshittery about how beastmen are inherently savage and destructive and basically a swarm of pests that has to be put down. And how this is necessary in order to address the moral issues of what to do with beastmen non-combatants. Essentially giving players moral license to commit genocide and still be considered "good" in-universe.

It felt so fucking unreal seeing how normally chill people can almost reproduce word for word the vile shit that Zionists are using right fucking now as a justification for mass murder and not have a single moment of "oh shit wait wtf am I saying". I had to step away from the keyboard and calm down. I hate how concept of "sapient creatures that are completely and irredeemably evil and are specifically designed to be slaughtered" is seen as something completely normal and even expected. Gygax was a piece of shit genocide enthusiast who deserves to rot in hell and it's high time that we move on from colonial plunder sims with dragons and obligatory others that exist only to be killed and looted.

You are building an imaginary world and there are no limits. The genre is literally called imagination. There is no excuse for consciously designing entire species that are designated for slaughter and reproducing some of the vilest ideologies ever thought up by humans as a pillar of your worldbuilding.

That's it I guess. That's the rant. Thanks for reading. I am doing my best trying to give positive portrayals of non-human societies in my games and also trying to get my friends to play other games that aren't built from around breaking into others' homes to kill them and take their stuff.

what width/depth should a good moat have?

Imagine being one of the wealthiest people on the planet but so desperate to feel oppressed that you do performative outrage over an app's in-built editor giving you conversion notes for commonly used systems of measurement.

Fully expected. Didn't Zelensky say at some point that they are looking at Israel as a model for what a victorious post-war Ukraine will be like?

My grandfather was at some point in his life detained and questioned by state security for, according to him, making "anticommunist political jokes" at work. He is a raging racist and antisemite (his first reaction to hearing my partner's last name was a concerned "Is he a Jew?") and most probably fucking deserved it.

It takes an industrial grade alloy of smugness and lack of self awareness to proclaim yourself a herbivore when your society is built on brutal conquest and the immiseration of billions. This continent's century of humiliation can't come soon enough.

I am waging protracted people's war against installing apps and creating accounts in order to do things that shouldn't require a fucking app or account. I have used my browser's console to scroll wepbages with JavaScript when shitty sites would disable scrolling to force me to sign up. Death to enshittification.

I am a software dev. My first company was a dumpsterfire that I continued working at for way too long due to being young and high on impostor syndrome. What drove me to finally quit was a one-two punch of bad experiences.

I was being paid significantly below the market average for my position and seniority. Company gets a big contract and the owner calls a big meeting with all hands when he boasts about how amazing it will be for our growth. Manager on my section has a meeting with me and my teammates telling us about how our next raises will be significant and how our division will have a booming expansion. In a 1 on 1 meeting, calls me their top performer. Two months later my raise comes in. It ends up being smaller than the one I received the previous year and still puts me way below average.

Context for part two: my company was doing outsourcing. I am also a woman who up to that point had somehow avoided the general shittyness of the tech industry towards us.

creep behaviorI have an interview with a new client. This was at the start of the pandemic, we had just switched to permanent work from home, but my company issued laptop hadn't come in yet. I connect on my desktop PC to the meeting, explain my situation and apologize for not having a webcam. HR lady says it's fine, they are also in the process of adapting to the whole online interviews thing and we chat for 10 minutes about my experience before the technical interviewers join. One of them immediately insists I turn on my camera, HR explains my issue, he relents, and we begin the actual tech interview. I pass the interview and get assigned to what's essentially a junior front end dev position while I am a mid level back end dev. I ask my company HR about this and they say they'll clarify the issue and get back to me. One week later the PM on my assigned project takes me aside and asks me how I got put on front end work when my recent job experience was all back end. He also reveals that the people I had my interview with had boasted to him about how they "found Jobasha's Facebook account and she is a bombshell" and how fun it will be with me on the team, some time before the interview took place. I realize this is why they insisted on turning on my camera at first and also that they stalked some poor random woman's Facebook profile, because I didn't have one. I also find out that my HR did basically nothing and the PM contacted me on his own initiative.

I quit at the end of that month and almost doubled my salary.

Hey bears, I am an enjoyer of milism-type games, like ARMA, Squad, Hell Let Loose, etc. Unfortunately, they require an organized group to fully enjoy, while also attracting a lot of terrible freeze-gamer types. My RL tacticool friends are busy with their lives right now and I'm feeling the itch to play a shooting game.

Anyone else around these parts into this sort of games? If yes, maybe we could get a chill hexagonal squad going. I'd love playing incompetent guerillas in an ARMA Antistasi campaign, but really I'm open to anything, I just want to play with decent people.

Edit: Regarding timezones/latency stuff, I'm in Europe

The fact that they would rather believe this community is on a several years long маскировка op merely pretending to be leftist rather than engage in a minimal effort at self-reflection is mind-boggling. I understand that we are dealing with the most propagandized population to have ever walked the Earth, but it's still stunning to actually encounter the phenomenon in real time instead of just reading up on the abstract concept.
