"Just move your forests to the ocean..."

I am seriously starting to think Trump has never seen a forested area in his life. What a fucking dumbass.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 67 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Remember when he said that forest fires started because people didn't rake the forest enough?

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's been a long running line of propaganda from the lumber industry. "old growth forests are messy and us lumber companies will clean them up!"

[–] recreationalplacebos@midwest.social 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Which is funny because if you've ever been to an area that's recently been logged (or "thinned" as they like to spin it), the ground is completely covered by a thick layer of all the branches they've trimmed off. Nope, no fire hazard there...

Equally as fucking dumb. It would be hilarious if he wasn't who he is.

[–] Daisyifyoudo@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

The guy who told us to inject disinfectant during the height of the pandemic is dumbass?

Or the guy that rambles like an incoherent 4th grader winging an oral report in front of his class:

“Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart —you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you’re a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”

Yes. This guy is a fucking moron.

Will the media never learn not to give this moron a platform ? We do not need to hear his every "thoughts" on whatever topic. People who have not grasped at this point that he is as stupid as a sack of corrugated plastic will never be convinced. Stop giving him exposure for pity's sake.

[–] mkhopper@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago

He's a train wreck, and train wrecks get eyeballs which turn into sweet, sweet ad revenue.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago (6 children)

His supporters are so dumb.

Ah yes. Plenty of extra water up "north."

We should dampen the forests while California is going through historic droughts, telling people not to water their lawns, aquifers drying up, lakes going dry, and the Colorado River output decreasing and continual debates on where that limited water goes.

Fucking idiot.

My solution: jail Drumpf and wet the forest with conservative's tears... they seem to cry so easily

[–] ares35@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

there's already enough toxins in the environment.

I mean, that would work......

I also have a solution for gun violence. Just stop shooting people.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Heavybell@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Guns don't kill people.

Ammunition does.

Dampen the ammo.

[–] gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My goodness, what an idea! Why didn't I think of that?

Huh... this one wasn't The Onion.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

The Onion got usurped by reality a while back.

"Political satire became obsolete when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize." - Tom Lehrer

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You know what's great about Tom Lehrer? A lot of his songs are really dated, and yet still very funny.

Also, he released his entire catalog of songs- sheet music, lyrics and audio- to the public domain.

I remember when Trump suggested raking the California forest would prevent wildfires.

He was our president then, elected by the US. It was a very embarrassing time for the USA. The world laughed at us. I didn't vote for him but he still made me feel shame for our country.

This guy is so detached from reality, it's surprising he's not suggesting that California asks the Jews to use their weather control device to create rain where needed.

Conservatives don't have enough backbone to actually defend this nonsense, they'll just slither away when confronted about it. Oh, but they'll still back this goddamn moron either way.

[–] NightLily@lemmy.basedcount.com 23 points 1 year ago (4 children)

“They say that there’s so much water up north, that I wanna have the overflow areas go into your forests and dampen your forests,” Trump said. “Because if you dampen your forest, you’re not gonna have these fire forest fires that are burning at levels that nobody’s ever seen before.”

Absolute dumbass shit.

‘You have very poor land management,” he continued before recalling a conversation he had with an Austrian official about forest fires in that country. “He said, ‘Sir, we have more flammable trees than you do on your coast. We don’t have forest fires. We have land management.’ They take care of the land. They pick up the dead trees. You know, a tree doesn’t burn very easily unless it’s dead. Then it gets dry and it burns. The leaves on the ground – they’re five feet thick over here.”

Stuff that might be true (I'm never going to look into this) but isn't funny. Goddamn Trump sending mixed signals here.

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 29 points 1 year ago

There's no mixed signal here. The signal is "America bad, I fix", and millions of idiots will continue to fall for it. The details of the 'bad' and the 'fix' don't matter.

So, when I read a headline about a politician talking about something, and what they say sounds so far beyond ridiculous and stupid, I imagine there is probably some level of context that makes it less stupid, but just poorly stated, that the particular article has no incentive to show.

Apparently not this one, as Trump went on to blame the Governor of California for not dampening the forests, and suggested the water falling in the north is "free."

That is honestly one of the dumbest things I've read from an adult, and people cheered for it.

[–] Jimmyeatsausage@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

I mean, his last big idea for the entire world being on fire was "rake the leaves," so if raking and watering isn't gonna work, what do we do? Nuke the forests? Draw a new fire map with a sharpie?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As Carlin once said- “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

For one, just California is over 5 times the size of Austria. Also we know that story never happened, though.

Not so sure about “leaves five feet thick”….. well, I guess I am and it’s one of the more ridiculous things he’s said, which is a high bar. I certainly have not seen five foot deep piles of leaves in California or anywhere… apparently he’s back to the “raking” thing. Of course Trump is a total expert on forest fire prevention.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (4 children)

Dude. He recommended mainlining bleach and shoving a UV cathode up one’s ass.

It’s sadly far from the dumbest or craziest thing he’s said.

[–] Delusional@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I suppose we should stop hurricanes by drying up the ocean.. just install a drain, really horrible ocean management.

Or stop earthquakes by putting rubber feet under cities, very poor city design....

Do Republicans know the story about the king who had no clothes on? Do they understand what it is about and how it is a metaphor? Do they know the word metaphor? Who am I kidding....

[–] Wodge@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Do Republicans know

No, they do not.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

Quite to the contrary, they know that he's naked, that's the whole point. They get off on people pointing out that the emperor has no clothes, because they've built a shared identity around defending the emperor and his very stable genius choice to be naked.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

They think that's a story of inspiring a new fashion trend.

[–] 21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 1 year ago

Excellent work. Really indicative of a guy who spends his life indoors.

[–] Got_Bent@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Dampening the forests makes about as much sense as trump dampening a woman without a checkbook in his tiny hands.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Sure. We’ll just FedEx all the rain water New York City received yesterday. The 4-8” they got should dampen a lot of forest.

[–] HaveYouPaidYourDues@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

California famously has extra water to just... spray down an area the size of a european country?

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Good idea, let's do that. Except there's no way to do that manually, so we'll have to use some sort of natural process...how about rainfall? All we'll have to do is reverse climate change, and then we can increase the average rainfall in California, and then the forests will be "dampened."

And it was all Trump's idea; to repeat, "anthropogenic climate change is real and we should reverse it" is now Trump's official, stated political platform.

All right, shh, nobody say anything, let's see if this works

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Yeah about that, One tree can "drink" 600 liter water in one day. So Trump how many trees do you think are in a forest? How much water do you reckon that would be? So how exactly did you figure this should work.

Oh sorry my mistake I used words that suggested actually thinking about the problem, not just pulling shit out your ass.

You know what the saddest part is? Trump voters will try every trick in the book to convince everyone else they’re mentally ill, yet they will vote for this or any other dumpster fire, to keep from looking in the mirror.

[–] SnowdenHeroOfOurTime@unilem.org 8 points 1 year ago (4 children)

The moron cannot imagine a solution that doesn't involve throwing some money at. Because all his problems are solved by lawyers and/or a few million dollars, it's outside his ability to understand the scale of real problems
