Just comic book levels of evil. If you wrote a movie with the villain doing shit like this, people would call it ham-fisted and schlocky.
Hell, he's even an Ayn Rand villain.
He's worse then evil (which is fine, actually.) He did something unforgivable....he PRETENDED to be good and just ended up being evil.
Apropos of nothing, I suspect disabling/destroying data centers will almost certainly be the next frontier for ecoterrorism.
How to blow up a data center has a nice ring to it
