Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Are they starting with Prince Andrew?

[–] machiabelly@hexbear.net 85 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

soooooooo this is going to be used on trans women isn't it.

ALSO! castration doesn't fucking work because sexual violence has nothing to do with desire!

ukkk

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No it isn't.

They're going to fuck with trans people, but the drugs used are also drugs used by trans people in some instances as part of hormone treatment or as puberty blockers. They're going to deny trans people something they are pressuring cis people to take. (There are other drugs involved in transitioning, but they're also going to deny trans people those while giving them to cis people)

Didnt they do this to Alan Turing?

[–] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 83 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He was charged with gross indecency (a sexual crime in our parlance) due to his homosexuality, on the mere fact of his homosexuality not a different act. He underwent chemical castration.

TERF island, the way it's going, I suspect may criminalize being trans - maybe in limited circumstances at first, like being trans and a teacher of young children then widening - and transgender people will be charged with sexual crimes and therefore be subject to chemical castration

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 43 points 1 week ago

Exactly what I came here to say. This will 100% be used against trans people.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago

They sure did

alleviate the pressures on the prison system, which is running out of space.

Ya know, one way to help alleviate the issue with having too many prisoners, is to reevaluate whether so many crimes should send people there.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 64 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The prison population in England and Wales has doubled over the past 30 years or so to nearly 90,000. That’s despite a fall in crime rates and is driven in part by the fact that longer sentences are being handed out amid pressure to be tough on crime.

here ye here ye, we bring to account, this assembly, wherein we demand of ourselves stricter corrections on outlawed behaviors, and must submit to these pressures which we put upon ourselves

*raucous stomping and chattering among the wigged crackers*

[–] DoubleSpace@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This policy isn't going to significantly reduce overcrowding.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

I did not suggest it will. I posted a depressing figure that demonstrates the problem is policing and sentencing. There would currently be half the number of people in prison if we simply had the same sentencing and policing culture that existed 30 years ago. This shows how much the cultural attitude has slipped rightwards in the UK over the last 30 years.

No, the most they can do is slavery or corporal punishment. Or both.

red tories being worse than the blue tories

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The UK is looking worse than the US

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago

This appears to be a british program that cites the Danish program in herstedvester, which uses Androcur and Procren (Zoladex), but other Grnh modulators are also in talk probably.

Which essentially means the only way to get HRT expedited in terfland is to be a pedophile, and it's probably gonna be the only way to get puberty blockers period.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah terf island is definitely gonna be fair judge of this /s

It's pretty clear what is the true aim, creating oppression feedback loop against trans people.

Soo I'm not discussing the ethics of it here but what if the offender gets exonerated? Free pass to sue for millions + more millions because they were wrongfully incarcerated?

[–] Denvil@lemmy.one 7 points 1 week ago

Just sew it back on, I'm sure it'll buff out

Can you believe that in the past people used to use corporal punishment? So much more civilised to force people to ingest drugs that change their body, mind, and possibily even identity that have historically resulted in suicides at times.

edit: at this stags it seems voluntary. If course in the legal system/healthcare many voluntary things are 'voluntary'.

[–] CrookedSerpent@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

I had to pay good money for my analog castration, and they are just handing that out for free to criminals over there??!!!!? Smh my head 😤

[–] josefo@leminal.space 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What chemical castration is? I don't want to Google it and find something gross

[–] gay_king_prince_charles@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Using hormones to disable sexual function in males

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Absolutely not. You can still get a boner on the drugs used, a lot of trans women still have penetrative intercourse as tops and/or enjoy sex while being on a similar stack (Although with added female sex hormones)

The theory of chemical castration is that removing testosterone makes you less likely to commit sexual assault, this is backed by an observed lower recidivism rate among people willing to undergo chemical castration and nothing else.

It's giving a man "menopause". Its shitty.

Like in preventing erections or something else? It's permanent?

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

No to both. Although there can be permanent side effects (But that's true for any hormone medication taken over longer periods)

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Alright here's a fucked up take.

At least a few people that are asexual get created by the nonce drugs.

They don't even have to ID as ace, the right could just define everyone in that 60% as asexual and play on people having no idea what asexuality really is.

The right then uses that designation of people as asexual to propagandise that LGBT people are nonces and support MAP.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 8 points 1 week ago

Remember when being gay was a sex offense and they chemically castrated Turing? What they can do to the worst offenders, they can do to everyone else. They're currently proving this in the US by working to say that gay people are all pedophiles.

[–] Razzazzika@lemm.ee 7 points 1 week ago

Oh sure CRIMINALS can get HRT but someone who actually wants it can't get it

[–] gay_king_prince_charles@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Or you could just do everyone a favor and shoot them

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Do you trust the British justice system to only convict guilty people 100% of the time?
