Eugen Leviné, assassinated on this day in 1919, was a German revolutionary communist who briefly led the Bavarian Council Republic, giving luxury apartments to the homeless and factories to the workers during his short reign in power.

Eugen Levine was born to wealthy Jewish parents in St Petersberg, Russia, and became exposed to radical politics after moving to Heidelberg, Germany at a young age. In 1905, Leviné returned to Russia to participate in the failed revolution of 1905 against the Tsar and was arrested and exiled to Siberia.

After World War I ended, Leviné joined the Communist Party of Germany and helped to create a socialist republic in Bavaria. Leviné eventually rose to power as the communists assumed control of the government.

He attempted to pass many reforms, such as giving the more luxurious flats to the homeless and giving workers control and ownership of factories. Leviné also planned reforms for the education system and to abolish paper money, but did not get the chance to complete either.

The German Army, assisted by the right-wing Freikorps paramilitary invaded and quickly conquered Munich on May 3rd, 1919. Leviné himself was arrested and shot by firing squad in Stadelheim Prison.

Ex-Soviet agent Whitaker Chambers cited Leviné as an inspirational figure, writing "During the Bavarian Council Republic in 1919, Leviné was the organiser of the Workers' and Soldiers' Soviets. When the Bavarian Council Republic was crushed, Leviné was captured and court-martialed. The court-martial told him: "You are under sentence of death." Leviné answered: 'We Communists are always under sentence of death.'"

I saw a clip of some DBZ movie showing an in-movie short of Trunks killing Frieza in 4s on Youtube today. Went on like 20 minutes of watching Future Trunks content on Youtube afterward.

I really liked Future Trunks and his character. No testing your limits, no humiliating the opponent, nor indecisiveness. No fighting for sport, pride of being a warrior, or playing reluctant hero. Just a soldier trying to protect the world.

"The nightmare is over, Cell. Die!" Just a pure speedrun of the Android & Cell saga. The Future Trunks timeline was of the same flavor as those dystopian movies like Terminator was from the 80s/90s media, but I really like the way Trunks stuck out as unique despite his limited screentime.

Radio proximity fuses are so cool, I had no idea every single one of them is a little radar bat. They've got little radio wave oscillators in the tip that send out a signal in front of the shell. When a target is close enough to return the signal, the shell explodes.

What's really neat is how they power them. It would obviously be a dangerous waste to just use batteries, because then your shell could be activated before its ready. So they have this ampule of acid seated inside a metal battery ring. On firing, the ampule breaks and the rotation of the shell spins the acid into the walls, creating a temporary battery.

I'm a huge fan of any "powered/timed by/initiatied by this vial of super bad chemicals we stuck in it" device.

I remember something about radio proximity fuses being a wildly powerful innovation and the Nazis just could not figure out how the fuck the Allies made their shells explode at the correct time. And when they considered radio they were like "Nah, no fucking way, there's no way that's whjat it actually is".

relationship rantWHY the fuck must they be so hard? Are they supposed to be? Has anyone been in a long lasting relationship that wasn't? Is it like a part of it to constantly feel like you're talking to a wall? I know I'm very particular and can be very critical but no matter how I try to talk about shit that bothers me, whether through ribbing, being super gentle and explanatory using "I" statements and expressing my needs, or being angry, it feels like nothing changes. Or it's me that's the problem idk
