Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

Bernieposting should be banned for opportunism. So sick of hearing about this old loser.

Shit, I'm not watching this for the old man, I'm here for the crowd. That "no more war" chant was from the heart, one of the most full chested chants I've ever heard. That gives me hope for the future

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're more optimistic than I; all I heard was people chanting against an orange man war. If these people would be anti-war had Kamala won, then I would personally be heartened, but I don't believe it for a second.

So you won't take the opportunity to organize people against the current government they oppose along revolutionary lines because of what you think they would do in an alternate timeline?

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's not even an alternate timeline; in this timeline the same people are libs who supported the invasion of Iraq and the overthrow of Gaddafi, especially the Libya situation too because Gaddafi was overthrown by Obama, and God forbid they should criticize him for anything. When Trump was managing the border concentration camps these same people were more than happy to come out against him and then the moment Biden won the election, these people were appeased because now that the right person was in charge, peace had been restored (except of course for the concentration camp inmates who were still in there). These same people had been salivating at the thought of violent regime change in Iran all the way up until Trump won the election.

the same people

Citation needed that the people attending this Bernie rally are the same people as you say

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The ones who aren't the same people are literally actually leftists

[–] jack@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ok so everyone is either a baying-for-blood imperialist liberal or a revolutionary communist. There are obviously more of the former, so let's give up. Certainly there's nobody whose politics are weird or muddy or undefined or undergoing changes in response to shifting material conditions. There's no point trying to organize any people in a huge crowd spontaneously opposing the newest imperialist venture, because I am sure that every single one of them is a hardened DNC operative, at Bernie's rally to perform a grand show of sheepdogging (which doesn't actually happen, because there are no people who aren't already either baying-for-blood imperialist liberals or revolutionary communists).

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic and should be ignored, but I genuinely have no faith in such people. All the libs I know who are now anti-war and pro-Palestine were defending Biden before the last election and supported Kamala, defending her even when I tried telling them she should be publicly criticized for supporting Israel and openly talking about building a wall. There ARE people whose opinions are changing, but not only are they few, but honestly I genuinely believe many of them will simply snap back to their former views the moment a democrat wins.

Maybe I'm being far too pessimistic, but I genuinely have no hope in these people or seeing America become better in my lifetime.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

weak, you should try being a communist

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago

The crowds that come to Bernie rallies have little overlap with the crowds that come to mainstream Democrat functions. KHive and co wouldn't be caught dead at a Bernie rally.

The reason why they get such high numbers is because they're (minimally) tapping into an underrepresented section of the political spectrum, where there are lots of people who would otherwise be tuned out, flocking to their only representation in this political hellhole.

They are naive and liberal but these are the anti-war citizens coming out of the woodwork.

[–] CommCat@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago

If it was a Dem in charge, ol' Bernie would have no problem bombing Iran

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Seriously. We need someone new. And not fucking AOC.

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

what about joe biden? he’s a fresh young face. the democratic party would go far with a firebrand like him at the helm.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

tanned, rested, and ready

[–] ephemeral@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

pete you called?

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hearing the crowd start chanting "No More War" almost immediately was pretty impressive.

Also, its interesting that only Bernie and AOC learned the lesson from Trump during the Biden years; just keep doing rallies. Will it work for them? I dunno. Maybe its the kind of thing only a TV star like Trump can do. Maybe it works.

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Work for them? What is their success condition? Bernie appears to me to be exactly where he intends to be, meaning, he doesn't really seem to aspire to any greater office. He didn't even grumble about his twice stolen and sabotage elections.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

Their success condition is life support to the DNC.

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

That's where it probably won't work. Trump had a clear pitch; 'vote me president'. Bernie and AOC are asking for... ??? There's some benefit to keeping more leftish talking points fresh and in the public mind, but I really don't know if this can translate to any success, say, in the Dem nominee.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

If your countries leader is breaking g international laws then its your responsibility to not obey those orders. The military is willing to follow illegal orders and saying it was illegal post facto means and had meant jack fucking shit. If its a war crime trust it like one and denounce the legitimacy of the Trump presidency. It doesn't matter if youre technically right if no one enforces the rules. It does t matter if something is wrong if you go along eith it anyway.
