What if, and just hear me out, we boost Trump's visibility in the media to remind voters that this an election between him and Joe? Once they see that they'll just vote for Joe. There's no way they would vote in Trump! Someone like that being president?! No way. Joe would win handedly.

Also Joe needs to avoid Wisconsin.

You're forgetting that the party as well as all their donors want Trump. They aren't running an election to win, they're running it to lose just enough to give them plausible deniability.

They love Trump because it means they don't need to justify anything. They just need to occasionally come out and condemn him. He also pulls criticism for the system onto himself. He's the ultimate heel.

hillgasm this worked so well the first time

[-] Wheaties@hexbear.net 45 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Ah, but it did work the second time, so it must be a good strategy! Plague? What plague?

New strategy, same as the old strategy

[-] halfpipe@hexbear.net 39 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

which is amazing considering that both times it was basically just a coin flip in terms of how the margins worked out.

and Biden still would have flat out lost if it hadn't been for Covid.

WHERE'S MY FUCKING MONEY, JOE

This is the most important election in the history of the planet, that is why our strategy for this very important election is as follows: "Meh. Whatever."

Lol. When Biden loses I bet there will be articles about how "he was the most progressive president since fdr, and voter rejected him."

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 37 points 10 months ago

They're literally already doing that.

They're going to spend a full goddamn year preemptively blaming us for not supporting him while repeatedly explicitly saying he will not be doing anything those voters want.

[-] grey_wolf_whenever@hexbear.net 28 points 10 months ago

the system never wastes a good chance to punch left

[-] roux@hexbear.net 23 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

People are already saying that. After all he stood on a picket line one time for a photo op. Now that's about as progressive as I can assume any human shaped goblin could be.

If Democrats lose in 2024 they will have no one to blame but themselves. Imagine being so genocidal and incompetent that you don't completely destroy Trump, one of the most loathed people on the planet, in the polls.

Dems have done nothing but throw leftists under the bus, commit war crimes and appease the right.

Dems have done nothing but throw leftists under the bus, commit war crimes and appease the right.

Why is this phrased as though those aren’t the goals of the Democratic Party to begin with?

A full goddamn year out and the liberals are already saying they're not doing anything to earn votes and blaming anybody who won't vote for them because of that

[-] sloth@hexbear.net 36 points 10 months ago

Send me a check for $4k and we will see.

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 24 points 10 months ago

And cancel student debt, and stop covid, and all the other shit you promised, Joe

[-] 2Password2Remember@hexbear.net 26 points 10 months ago

motherfucker promised to cure cancer lmao. in a serious country that alone would have been enough to force him to withdraw from public life in shame

Death to America

[-] stigsbandit34z@hexbear.net 33 points 10 months ago

This worked spectacularly in 2016!

[-] Snackuleata@hexbear.net 33 points 10 months ago

I thought the whole message of 2020 was once we elect Biden, Trumpism would be defeated. Add it to the list of broken campaign promises.

The sheer hubris to run Joe again in 2024 after already promising not to during the campaign in 2020. They’re going to lose and it will be entirely their fault. Please just send this senile codger to a farm upstate. He’s done, he’s washed!

Is Joe Biden aware that we can vote third party or leave the top of the ticket blank?

2028 will be having a new version of Bernie running up against Kamala Harris only for Biden's mummified corpse or Obama to make another call

[-] mar_k@hexbear.net 23 points 10 months ago

Polls about a race between the two of them show otherwise lmfao

[-] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 22 points 10 months ago

It all depends on how effective the Project 2024 fear mongering is. It only seems to work on radlibs and people paying attention. Everybody else just hates Biden, clowns on him, and say things like "the economy was better under Trump."

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 22 points 10 months ago

Beyond just boosting Trump, this might also boost the insurrection caucus within the GOP leading up to the election. Oops!
