If partying hard is a crime then throw me in jail.

Also reactionaries really need to give this "disaster for dad Joe's campaign" shit a fucking rest already. There's a very long list of legitimate criticisms that people have of Genocide Joe, and his son dropping a mil on hookers and blow is not anywhere close to the top of it.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 89 points 11 months ago (4 children)

I'm not opposed to this perspective but Joe fuckin Biden is the guy who wrote the '94 crime bill. He argued in the Senate to put motherfuckers in prison for renting warehouses to ravers. This man's son does more drugs than most of the people in prison from his bill, and yet he's not in prison. It's absolutely ripe political fodder for attacking him, there's no reasonable argument for his kid not being affected by his awful policies other than he knows they're awful and he doesn't want his son affected by them. He should be attacked for this shit, it should be a normal way to criticize him. If his kid shouldn't be in prison for the obvious, well documented crimes he does, why should anybody elses?

Yea, but that was just meant to put black people and extremely poor white people who hang out with black people in prison, not rich failsons of billionaires and politicians.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 45 points 11 months ago (1 children)

yes, that's the contradiction here

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

Sorry, Joe Biden, your son is not above the law and will be tried in court as if he were any other Black man and will inevitably be found guilty.

Beautifully put. It's not like Hunter Biden being in jail is going to make me feel good either. Let other people's sons and daughters out of jail for shit no one cares about. If you would then decide to get help for addicts then you'd have my non-American vote so fucking fast

Edit: he'd face jail time for tax memes, not for the stuff normies go to jail for. Hehexd moment

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's definitely ripe fodder for attacking him from the left, but right wingers love the carceral system so it's a little confusing coming from them

[–] machiabelly@hexbear.net 22 points 11 months ago

They dont have to be consistent. They can use it because its the sorta thing liberals are supposed to care about. Everyone knows the republicans are assholes. The dems try to make everyone think they're the good guys.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago

Is it really confusing? They will use any angle to attack their opponents, I don't think it's anything new. There's nothing internally consistent about the Democrats or the Republicans, I can't see why they would need consistency on this one subject.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean yeah I'm not saying we shouldn't go after Hunter for the tax evasion or whatever (not the drug crimes, nobody should be in jail for doing drugs). But speaking of Papa Biden, I just don't think it's that big of a deal compared to the other stuff he's done (the aforementioned crime bill, funding a genocide, opening up more oil drilling despite staring down the barrel of an existential climate crisis, etc). Conservatives won't criticize him on those things because they agree with most of them, so they bang the Hunter Biden drum because it's about the only thing they have. They deserve to be mocked for spending absurd amounts of time and taxpayer money on something that barely fucking matters rather than the actual important issues affecting the country.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 27 points 11 months ago

Until Joe moves to decriminalize whatever Hunter's charged with, I don't give a shit. Lock his ass up, this is the nation Joe Biden built.

Paying $870k on sex work is absolutely staggering and there's no way that he was a John for potentially thousands of escorts without being involved in human trafficking, statutory rape or just outright rape. The dude is a rapist and human trafficker. This isn't "partying". He took advantage of their addictions to cocaine as well I’m sure.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 15 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Okay yeah that's fair. But I still think the media's hyper focus on this issue is way overblown.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 39 points 11 months ago (4 children)

It is useful to point out the double standard between us lowly peasants and the upper class. Hunter’s father is the one who put harsh minimum sentences on millions of people for the same crimes his son gets away with without issue for years.

Also, Joe is laundering his corrupt money through his son so it is relevant. Hunter is the vessel through which all the Ukraine plunder flowed, and it’s a necessary part of understanding why the Democrats went so all in on Ukraine (heavy financial intertwining and corruption)

Being the president's family will do that

[–] GaveUp@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Spending 870k on sex workers is not "partying hard" that's being a sexual predator

[–] Tunnelvision@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I’ve only seen the photos that have been posted recently, and honestly everything seems consensual? All seem to be adults, all seem to be okay with being photographed, all seem to be legitimate sex workers. I’m not scoping out everything about this guy, but it doesn’t look like the sex is his main problem it’s his connections to power/money and avoidance of consequences due to said power and money.

Edit: someone lower did mention that with 870k worth of sex that probably does include some human trafficking. And he was on the board for that Ukrainian energy company and Ukraine was a big hub of human trafficking before the war so yeah sexual predator is probably right.

On one hand it is quite funny how Hunter just couldn't handle the family obligation to be a cruel killing machine (literally or metaphorically) in order to advance his and his family's political career, so he became a drugs & party dude.

On the other hand, it is terrible how Hunter just gets to do whatever and the worst consequence for him is that he goes to a cool island resort where they help him with his drug habit, but normal people will absolutely be brutalized by the state for doing 5% of what Hunter is doing and the person who passed all the laws that brutalize people for it is Joe fucking Biden.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 47 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Single handedly keeping the sex work industry afloat during the ongoing economic crisis.

Seriously though holy fucking shit that's more than his dad's entire net work when Biden was VP, isn't it?

Also, Daily Fail so lol who knows.

Seriously, though, was his job in Ukraine really that lucrative? Where the hell was the money coming from? I thought Biden was poor af back during the Barack O'Biden years.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 34 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Joe Biden was "poor" because he didn't hold the corrupt bribes and assets personally, he set up a patronage network to all of his extended family that he had effective control over. He was rich as fuck obviously.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 25 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

IIRC his brother owns (owned?) a private island that was adjacent to Epstein's 👁

Edit: looks like he sold in 2020, 8 miles away from Little St James

It's not good to glorify a exploitative sex pest.

[–] autism_2@hexbear.net 30 points 11 months ago

I don't think he's cool

[–] Mokey@hexbear.net 21 points 11 months ago

Hunter is somehow a better person than biden is

[–] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 21 points 11 months ago (2 children)

He is also alleged to have used the business line of credit to make $27,316 in payments to an online pornography website, 'which in total accounted for one fifth of all of the business line of credit expenditures.'

h o w

The only way this makes sense to me is if he was paying for custom videos or something, but that just makes me wonder about the content

god what a loser

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Anyone who doesn’t understand how this relates to Joe has a baby brain. I guess all those Ukrainian and Chinese private equity investors gave brain dead, crack addicted hunter millions to blow on hookers and makeup because of his astounding business acumen

[–] star_wraith@hexbear.net 21 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

The “best” lib answer is that sure, they paid Hunter for influence but Joe didn’t actually do anything for them. Which a.) isn’t how conflict of interest works, it’s the situation itself that’s the problem, and b.) strains credulity, since after the first few hundies if they weren’t getting anything in return you assume they would just stop.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The funny thing is they’re just reaping what they sowed when going after trump. “The swamp” is fucking real, the entire thing is stacked with corrupt weasels, and I’m sure if you started turning over rocks around basically any senator and their families you would pull out countless instances of corruption and inappropriate behavior though certainly not to this extent.

And I agree with you the libs trying to sell us joes innocence must think we’re the dumbest motherfuckers on earth

[–] star_wraith@hexbear.net 19 points 11 months ago

It’s like, libs want us to be mad about George Santos. He’s doing penny ante corruption while someone like Pelosi is really cashing in.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago

i think he should run for president. he's well connected and has the presidential gravitas and relevant experience the country expects.

[–] bigkahuna1986@lemmy.ml 16 points 11 months ago

The rest he just squandered

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Republicans lowkey mad that biden son is this "traditionally cool".

[–] StellarTabi@hexbear.net 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I bet his childhood photos have him long boarding, wearing his basedball cap in the wrong direction, having an ebic treehouse, all five forbidden ones, skeptics annotated playboys, and a bi-metal yoyo with custom ball bearings imported straight from japan.

He's so cool

[–] Dickey_Butts@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

He truly is the gift that keeps on giving. No wonder confidence in institutions is at an all time low.

D/Gen lifestyle. He will be executed according to my communist-bushido synthesis.

[–] DayOfDoom@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It will be called proleshido.

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 11 months ago (2 children)

How do you contend with the fact that samurai were the enforcement class for the nobility and heavily suppressed the people though?

[–] DayOfDoom@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

I just keep synthesizing and slashing away until the annoying people in my way silence. Either by swift slash of the uchigatana or ideological beatdown of the spoken word.

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago

not too great on the pederasty front either
