Cyberpunk Batman would certainly be on trend these days, but it would probably end up as some libertarian both sides slop in the style of the Nolan films. Could be a great opportunity to lean in on the whole "Batman is a terrible billionaire actually" angle with the proper writers though. Maybe have the younger quoting some Marx/Lenin or something to old Bruce.

Talking about libertarian and batman. I am pretty sure in one of those Frank Miller comics, Batman was like this ancap hero (seems like a self-insert tbh) that fought ronald reagan, and he even allied with Green Arrow (who was a communist), because he thought Communists and Anarchists would be allies with Libertarians against the US goverment.

Are you referring to THE GOD DAMN BATMAN?

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 7 points 4 weeks ago

"What, are you dense? Are you r word or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"

Is that The Dark Knight? Wherein he ends gang violence by beating up one guy in a mud pile

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

I think is that one, or the sequel.

There's a Batman Comic called Batman Year 100. The idea is that it is a comic about Batman from the year 2039 (the 100 year anniversary of Batman). It's set in an even more dystopian police state version of Gotham where police stations wear uniforms like football players and compete against each other to catch criminals on reality TV. One of the neat things is Batman has no money, he has to make all his gadgets on a shoestring budget, like making smoke bombs out of pingpong balls and match heads etc. Neat comic. One of my other favourite things is he puts in fake jagged teeth dentures when he fights up close to look more monstrous.

I liked the concept of that one but I just could not jive with the art. maybe it's part of the vibe a la cruelty squad but it's just offputting

That's the series where Batman switches the sperms at the fertility clinic to have a son?

Wait I used to watch that show as a kid, is that actually the plot? Wtf Bruce?

[–] cobn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Amanda waller did it, and had planned on killing Terry's parent as well to make another batman for gotham, not Bruce.

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Why doesn't she just kill all the parents to make a potential limitless supply of Batmen? Is she stupid?

[–] cobn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago

Right Just change all male genetics to produce batmans

[–] RION@hexbear.net 9 points 4 weeks ago

Common Waller W (it stands for Weird)

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 1 points 4 weeks ago

In the current comics Waller has adopted a female Brainiac or something, so this tracks.

The show got canceled prematurely and they decided to make a movie to wrap things up. In that movie, we find out Bruce is Terry's biological father for reasons. Was such a stupid ass way to end the show.

Surprisingly, the show holds up. It's interesting how many predictions it made around technology. The only thing missing is social media. I put it on par with the Animated Series.

[–] KhanCipher@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

Actually, that revelation happens in the final episode of JLU, the Beyond movie was about Terry and Bruce vs. The Joker.

[–] RNAi@hexbear.net 9 points 4 weeks ago

Oh shit is actually worse eh

[–] jack@hexbear.net 13 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 13 points 4 weeks ago

Nahhhh

Let Michael Keaton step away after The Flash

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 12 points 4 weeks ago

Not a bad cast choice I guess. But they would probably make it too edgy.

And get Jonathan Holmes to play Da JokerMun.
