I've noticed this on books, paper packaging, and clothes — anything that will absorb an odor, basically. Is this some sort of chemical treatment they use in warehouses, or... ?

Ah yes, cats, famously good at catching fish

Bluesky is more like Twitter, and Twitter users prefer Twitter to Mastodon

Not a fan, but there are better and worse ones, and Moonraker is down there with the worst of them. Goldeneye was the last one with anything going for it imo.

Oh there's loads of stuff tied up with it: the history of anticatholicism in England, how that relates to Ireland; then you've got the North/South American axis too. And this stuff matters, but theology is not the driving force of history, is it

The thing these people need rubbing on their faces is that they endorsed genocide, a hard right immigration policy, zero commitment on reproductive rights AND STILL LOST. You fucking sold your soul for nothing, you fucking losers. All you achieved was adding your voices to the chorus of "more racist violence, please".

We've all seen it, and it has become more and more prevalent in recent years. I get the desire to dunk on WASPs, and that's all in good fun as far as I'm concerned, but I'm getting really tired of reading these weird theological arguments from leftists who think that the problem is the ideological framework of Calvinism or whatever. No. The prots have institutional influence where you live, and that's all there is to it. In the (many) countries where the Catholic church has institutional influence, they're the bastards.

They're the bastards where I live, but I'm not going to start blaming it on the dogma of transubstantiation or whatever, because that would be bad analysis.

The ending of the original is quite pessimistic though iirc? I take your point, but imho giving it a big emotive movie-style ending wasn't a terrible choice. See also, Fight Club

Lmao as if NATO wouldn't be fucked without Turkey

Imo those changes were one of the few things about the film that truly slapped — the UK is quite capable of going full fash without a nuclear apocalypse

and it looks like I got on an anti-ukraine list somehow?

Quite possible you just rubbed someone the wrong way. Wil Wheaton used to put anyone who sent him 'shut up, Wesley' on the gamergate list.

The Mask, and I turned out just fine

You have to let the fascists have a turn every few years, otherwise it wouldn't be a real Democracy!

What a strange question

Hit yourself in the testicles with a cartoon mallet, then rethink your priorities

... and now I'm job-hunting in earnest and jfcsstrrssfgchujbgfryhgftyhgerswww. I hope this is the right place to vent about this sort of thing, but I'm feeling so incredibly stressed and frustrated because I really want to change careers (TEFL teaching is a dead end, and the conditions have got so much worse in recent years) and I know I could do a junior frontend job perfectly well — I've put so much with into getting good at it in my own time — but it's beginning to dawn on me that there's basically no way in to the industry unless you know someone who can help you get a foot in the door.

I don't know where I'm going with this tbh — I just needed to vent somewhere — but it would be nice to hear any advice anyone can offer, or even just the lamentations of anyone with similar experiences...

I'm pretty good at picking things up from context, so I'm gonna say a tankie is someone opposed to the deployment of tanks against a captive civilian population, the police having tanks, and tanks' worth of tear gas being used on peaceful protestors?

(please don't reply with earnest answers to my question, thx)

EDIT - some of y'all are failing to follow this last instruction smdh
