expansion of legislation making unions actually completely toothless

They could make unions illegal and make it a felony to be in anything they consider to be an underground union.

"The Big Bopper, Jr." died in 2013. The "DARK Truth" was an internet rumor that guns were on board the plane.

Big Bopper

His son also followed a musical career and was known professionally as "The Big Bopper, Jr.", performing around the world. He toured on the "Winter Dance Party" tour with Buddy Holly impersonator John Mueller on some of the same stages where his father had performed.

In January 2007, Jay Richardson requested that his father's body be exhumed and an autopsy be performed in response to an internet rumor about guns being fired aboard the aircraft and Richardson initially surviving the crash. The autopsy was performed by William M. Bass, a forensic anthropologist at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Richardson was present throughout the autopsy and observed the casket as it was opened.

Both men were surprised that the remains were well enough preserved to be recognized as those of the late rock star. "Dad still amazes me 48 years after his death, that he was in remarkable shape," Richardson told the Associated Press. "I surprised myself. I handled it better than I thought I would." Bass's findings indicated no signs of foul play. "There are fractures from head to toe. Massive fractures…. [Richardson] died immediately. He didn't crawl away. He didn't walk away from the plane."

Richardson's body was placed in a new casket made by the same company as the original and was reburied next to his wife in Beaumont's Forest Lawn Cemetery. Jay Richardson allowed the old casket to be displayed at the Texas Musicians Museum. In December 2008, he announced that he would be placing the old casket up for auction on eBay, donating a share of the proceeds to the Texas Musicians Museum, but Jay downplayed the suggestion in later interviews.

He died of heart failure in 2013. The family announced "It is with great sadness that we must tell you that Jay P Richardson has passed away. After a long hard fight, JP succumbed on the morning of August 21, at the age of 54".

When asked about his relationship with Epstein, Mr. Chomsky replied in an email:

“First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”

In March 2015, Epstein scheduled a gathering with Mr. Chomsky and Harvard University professor Martin Nowak and other academics, according to the documents. Mr. Chomsky said they had several meetings at Mr. Nowak’s research institute to discuss neuroscience and other topics. Two months later, Epstein planned to fly with Mr. Chomsky and his wife to have dinner with them and movie director Woody Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, the documents show. Mr. Chomsky said...

“If there was a flight, which I doubt, it would have been from Boston to New York, 30 minutes. I’m unaware of the principle that requires that I inform you about an evening spent with a great artist.”

I almost feel sorry for liberals. The republicans have it so easy. Usually all they need is a tautology/mantra to say to themselves like... "America is exceptional because it's exceptional." But liberals look at the world differently so they often have to create annoying mental constructs to explain how America is always exceptional. It must be exhausting for them. They need to explain and rationalize that America is still an exceptional country even if they know local homeless situation is awful or they hear their relative got fucked over by his insurance company to the tune of $80,000 or they learn that a black coworker with a pricey BMW routinely gets hassled by the cops simply because he's black or the libs are considering sending their kids to an expensive private school they can't afford because their public school system is awful.

People in deep denial hate it when somebody makes them try to wake up. When a leftist makes a simple, factual observation like the homeless should be housed - I think some libs aren't even aware they're punching left. They think they are justified in attacking somebody trying to tear down America.

Big Sur

Big Sur is a rugged and mountainous section of the Central Coast of the U.S. state of California, between Carmel Highlands and San Simeon, where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. It is frequently praised for its dramatic scenery.

Big Sur has been called the "longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States", a sublime "national treasure that demands extraordinary procedures to protect it from development", and "one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world, an isolated stretch of road, mythic in reputation".

Lack of restrooms

It's a 'scenic highway' with piles of shit up and down the highway.

— Butch Kronlund, Coast Property Owners Association Executive Director

There are only 16 public restrooms along the entire coast to accommodate the almost 5 million annual visitors. The number of visitors far exceeds the available restrooms, and most restrooms are not available in locations where tourists frequently visit. Businesses report that the large number of visitors using their bathroom has overwhelmed their septic systems.

If visitors can locate them, they can use bathrooms within California State Parks or federal campgrounds without paying an entrance fee. But many of the bathrooms are not visible from Highway 1. This is due in part to the fact that restroom signs along Highway 1 were removed for aesthetic reasons.

As a result, visitors often resort to defecating in the bushes near locations like the Bixby Creek Bridge. Residents complain that visitors regularly defecate along Highway 1. Toilet paper, human waste, and trash litter the roadsides. Residents have taken it upon themselves to clean up after visitors. '

The California Department of Transportation, which cleans the roadside areas about once a week, finds human waste during every cleanup. Butch Kronlund, executive director of the Coast Property Owners Association, criticized the lack of restrooms. He says, "It's a 'scenic highway' with piles of shit up and down the highway."

The 1976 California Coastal Act makes installing public bathrooms, trash bins, or even new road signs along Highway 1 extremely difficult. Several federal, state, and local agencies have jurisdiction in Big Sur, all of which must weigh in on decisions affecting residents and visitors.

Muller investigation

Justification of the Mueller and his investigation is super old school. Usually if he's mentioned in r/politics - it's by libs who are mad Trump didn't go to jail.

I don't know...

In a way I hope it's a DNC psyop and not unpaid essays written by some poor schnook at a keyboard who's trying hard to never doubt American exceptionalism.

I wonder if the page is TV Tropes-like death-by-hyperlink nonsense. "Uses and Gratifications Theory" is a 3,000 word Wikipedia page and I don't understand the point of the "theory"...

Uses and gratifications theory is a communication theory that describes the reasons and means by which people seek out media to meet specific needs.

Serious question - who is Clay Shirky? Some "philosopher" type funded by a billionaire?

I tried to read his Wikipedia page but the text sounds like a moronic redditor trying very hard and failing to be clever...

Shirky asserts that collaborative crowdsourced work results from "a successful fusion of a plausible promise, an effective tool, and an acceptable bargain with the users." He states that the promise of what the user will get out of participating in a project leads to a person's desire to get involved.

Collaborators will then choose the best social networking tool to do the job. One that "must be designed to fit the job being done, and it must help people do something they actually want to do." The bargain, Shirky states, defines what collaborators expect from each other's participation in the project. Shirky's 'Promise, Tool, Bargain' premise restates aspects of the Uses and Gratifications Theory of mass media research.

I'm American and it pains me.

It was the top of the hour so I decided to see what MSNBC was up to and they ran with that soundbite. Of course - they focused on the word "cult". It's a fundamental given at that network that two strong parties are needed.

I'm slow but then again I'm old.

I'm on a PC and I did the test a bunch of times and I managed to get to 208. I needed to stop so I ~~don't~~ didn't try to get it down to under 200. I'd feel like a lab animal trying so hard to get a tasty pellet.

Holy mother of fuck - the top comment is ~1,200 words.

Jane, who is in seventh grade, seemed unfazed by her victory when reached by phone after school on Wednesday. She drew the demiclad werewolf in about an hour using a pencil case’s worth of felt-tip pens.

“It kind of just came to me,” she said.

She had not initially been enthusiastic when her social studies teacher told students about the contest. But inspiration struck when another teacher put on a movie during class. She said she nailed the design on her first try.

“I didn’t want to do something that usually you think of when you think of Michigan,” she said. “I was like, ‘Why not make a wolf pulling his shirt off?’”

Amy Hynous, Jane’s mother, added, “It’s a strong symbol, and Jane’s very passionate about art.”
