I'm three weeks sober today. It feels like I've fully gotten alcohol out of my daily routine, and I'm starting to coast on new habits now. There's been a noticeable improvement in my depression and energy levels, and my skin is starting to look healthier. My sobriety tracker says I've saved $107 and skipped 45 drinks so far.

Thank you! I dealt with some pretty bad insomnia for the first 3 days. But with the help of melatonin and adjusting my nightly routine, it's gotten easier. One thing that I haven't gotten used to yet is how vivid and frequent my dreams are, now. Idk if you've experienced that when cutting out drinking, but it's pretty wild.

I'm 11 days sober (alcohol) for the first time in 2 years. The first few nights were hard, but each passing day gets easier after I've broken out of the cycle that I've been stuck in.

Chun-Li and Cammy, while I'm getting re-acclimated to the controls. I like super agile baddies and lots of kicks, so I've been having a lot of fun with Cammy and her Hooligan combo.

Thanks! The hardest part for me is not stopping to pick up a couple tallboys on my way home from work, but I managed to do it last night with little issue! If I can do it one night, I can do it again.

Nice, I'll try one of those! Are they carbonated? Fizzy, bubbly drinks have been decent substitutes for hard seltzers in my experience.

I've been struggling with moderate alcoholism for the past several months, with many attempts to quit or cut back. I'm currently 70 hours sober, and I'm trying to use alcohol-free sparkling water and Street Fighter to establish new habits. I suck at fighting games, but I've been wanting to pick up a new hobby and the newest game in the series is pretty fun.

CW to anybody who might be unsettled or scared by the sight of a tornado. Here's a storm chaser who captures footage of the tornado from its inception. It quickly wedges out and becomes a monster within a few minutes.

The weather is looking particularly dangerous tonight in the Mississippi valley. Stay safe, any comrades that live in the highlighted areas!

Some personal good news: I moved into a new house today and it's kind of cute.

Bad news: I am once again living with my evangelical Maga dad and we're renting it together.

Good news: I've been opening up to him more about my struggles with treatment-resistant depression, and establishing boundaries.

Bad news: Although he's trying to be empathetic, understanding, and accommodating, he also believes the biggest influence on my depression is the Devil.

Hasan has finally been cancelled.

A few months ago, I saw a post that showed a ton of the ridiculously reactionary takes by one of the American Communist Party guys online. I think it was Eddie Liger Smith. Does anybody have a link to that post? I came across someone shilling for the ACP, and I wanted to bring receipts that prove they're a bunch of Maga fash cosplaying as comrades.

Sometimes I miss the 2016 version of myself, where I would get a mild dopamine boost about funny jokes about the orange man, or seeing a celebrity endorse my favorite DNC war criminal - blissfully unaware of global politics, war, and genocide.

A war is raging in the Middle East, and Iran is on the brink of getting nuclear weapons.  Donald Trump is responsible for this dangerous development because his administration withdrew, in 2018, from the U.S.-Iranian nuclear deal that restricted Tehran's ability to make highly enriched uranium bomb material.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors in Iran verified that Tehran was in compliance, but then-President Donald Trump claimed that he, the self-proclaimed “master of the deal,” would get a better agreement.

He did not.

Of course it isn't Israel being belligerant af. It's evil Tehran and the Orange Man who are responsible.

I decided to scroll through lemmy dot world and laughed out loud when I read this comment.

I just wanted to vent about an online interaction I had with people in my local community.

I lost my pharmacy technician job last month because the company is going bankrupt, and I had an eviction hearing this week because I haven't found a new job yet and have no income to pay rent. Somebody in a local FB group today made a post about how they're happy that place went out of business because she found a new pharmacy that treats her better, and it kind of made me mad. I was salty and commented, "I'm glad you're happy hundreds of people lost their jobs (including me)."

Then I got bombarded with comments that included this gem from some white boomer lady: "Maybe if you had any discernible skills, you wouldn't have lost your job." That really pissed me off. Not only did the business going under have nothing to do with me or my alleged lack of skills, but I had just started training to become a certified pharmacy tech. I felt like I finally found a job that I was good at and enjoyed. It was one of the most tough and thankless jobs I've ever had, but I was genuinely good at it and received a lot of positive feedback from my manager and customers. It was such a good fit, that I want to try to continue doing this type of work.

I've been applying at a bunch of pharmacies hoping that I can find another opportunity to receive on-the-job training, but nothing has panned out yet. Now I'm staring down the barrel of eviction, and something about seeing a bunch of people ridicule my situation because I challenged the OP's post just makes me kind of upset.

Hey comrades, it sucks being in this position. I lost my job at the end of February, struggled with finding employment until May, found a job I really liked, and then they closed after working there for less than a month. So I've been without an income again for a few weeks, and I'm still looking for work.

Unfortunately, I fell behind on my utilities and woke up to my power being shut off. I need $350 to restore it, so I'm trying to gather money from different sources to try to make that happen. Anything towards that helps! Feel free to comment or PM me for any additional info you might want from me.

Thank you so much for reading. heart-sickle

Edit: So I was able to get my power restored by making a partial payment of $50 and committing to on-time payments of $50 for the next 12 months. So, the immediate crisis has been avoided. Now I just need to keep trying to find a job so it doesn't get shut off again next month lol.

Lmao, today got even funnier. Also, fuck Joe Manchin.

Some takeaways:

  1. Trump is the most pro-life, anti baby-murder president we've ever had, and it's a demonic plot that stole the election from him. The communist Democrats are hell-bent on killing as many babies as possible to show their allegiance to Satan.

  2. Then they showed a clip of a Muslim devotional video which claimed Allah was the one true god. After the clip ended, they started praising Trump for keeping the borders closed. If he let the Muslims in, rampant evil would spread across our great nation the likes of which has never been seen, collapsing our institutions to enact Sharia Law.

  3. They then showed protesters at an ICE detention camp, holding signs such as, "Family Has No Borders", "Close the Camps", and "Abolish ICE". They began to harangue the protesters, calling them Marxist actors who want to let as many illegal drug dealers and traffickers into our country as possible, in order to weaken our amazing president's administration.

This was all within ten minutes, lol. TV Christianity is literally just state propaganda of the Republican party. Nothing that they spoke about had anything to do with God or Christ.

I tried to keep the communist language as low key as possible, but I was in a thread I made about what could convince a leftist to vote for Biden, because I'm hearing some reasonable arguments from people I trust and respect. A progressive friend of mine (who's more left than like say, a Hillary supporter, but not any type of leftist) made some valid arguments about centrism and having to "play it safe" that I won't get into.

I've been dealing with a relatively severe manic episode the past few days, and I just let out a multiparagraph tirade about, "I understand wanting to appear moderate, but I'm fed up with capitalism, liberalism, and people being reactionary fucks. I wish we were already at the point where we could see that the whole Liberal-Conservative sham is what's keeping us sick, poor, and two paychecks away from homelessness." I didn't say anything about the USSR or Castro, but I also implied class struggle and how that should be our goal.

Eh, a pretty active thread with like 10 commenters haven't interacted in like an hour and a half, I hope I didn't completely alienate the rest of the people in my life, lol.
