True story:

One time at my old local bookstore, I was recommended the show Altered Carbon... by one of the local Silicon Valley adjacent computer touchers with a literal lanyard around their neck.

He didn't tell me anything about the story, mind, just how amazing the technology was in it, and how he'd "like to make it happen." sus-torment

If anyone hasn't seen this yet it is an extremely dystopian look into technological mind transference. The show is mid and relies heavily on torture as a storytelling device which is lazy and lame. I can't speak for the books. It's an interesting premise though

It's been done before, it's just that it has lots of torture and SV to draw the hogs in so it got popular.
