Am I... stupid? This appears to just be normal women just existing, maybe their expressions are more fearful than I can make out?
the implication is that Afghanistan in the 70s was oh so free and if Usians do not vote blue then Republicans will make their country just as bad as the Middle East
no context as to what could have caused the Middle East to decline so much in the last 50 years, and a healthy dose of general racism to go with it
Women in afghanistan today are forced to wear burkhas and are not allowed to be seen uncovered in public. The implication is that america today is like afghanistan in the 70s and that the republicans will make it like it is now.
It's playing on racism and islamophobia but also it's ignoring the fact that it was America who turned afghanistan into that by supplying the islamic radicals in order to prevent communism in afghanistan.
i get that the implication is that they're being forced to wear dresses and high heels but why should i assume that other than funny internet text implying that.

The unspoken implication is that the average liberal hears "Afghanistan" and immediately begins imagining muezzin calls and images of women in burqas being leered at by dangerous, swarthy men with AKs and turbans, and that Afghanistan looks this (incredibly racist stereotypical) way because of religious fundamentalism, and this image is from "pre fundamentalist" Afghanistan , and that if Republicans (also religious fundamentalists) win they'll do the same to the US
It's a deeply racist and orientalist "meme" that's indistinguishable from early 00s chudposting
