Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Imagine my surprise reading this on the LA Times this morning (emphasis mine):

“I would not acknowledge reproduction as a human right, but instead as a form ofremoved,” IndictEvolution wrote on Lemmy.World in July 2023. “I am also not bothered by infanticide as long as it is done humanely...”

Here is an archive of the article.

Here is his account.

It looks like he only stayed on Lemmy for about a month, most likely a temporary Reddit exile with the earliest exodus on June 2023. The article mentions threads on Reddit but doesn't provide any quotes from there. User IndictEvolution on Reddit deleted their account, and the article makes it sound like they are referring to a different username that they don't specify.

He volunteered that he wanted to kill himself by strapping an explosive to his head, setting the timer for one hour and drugging himself to sleep. He said he lacked access to any drug stronger than codeine. Available explosives were not the problem.

It made me think of this: All I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom in da boom-boom

Ninja edit. My life is a lie. It's not "in da boom-boom" it's "and a poom-poom". Where do I go from here?

This song was banned in my middle school

My middle school became a prison after Columbine

I got accused of wearing gang colors because I had a pair of yellow and black sneakers

They said it was Latin Kings, but it just reminded me of Bumblebee from Transformers!

Being one of the resident nerds taking college classes in highschool, I was threatened with arrest for bringing my book bag full of very expensive books to school.

[–] grysbok@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 week ago

Look at this braggart with their book bag!/s

(My school banned book bags from middle school onward due to security concerns. It sucked so much having to hold on to 3+ textbooks in my arms for my hour+ bus rides. My arms were buff for a middle schooler.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Yeah, we had the gang color accusations as well

My friend's house got raided because some popular girls thought he was weird and was going to shoot up the school... for no apparent reason at all.

The cops tore his house to shit and gave his dad the nth degree about having a bag of lawn fertilizer in the garage.

That shit was so fucked up.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

Yeah, it was pretty great because I also got shit on because I had the exact same KMFDM shirt one of the shooters was wearing

Where do I go from here?

Just shake ya rump!

I had to look down at my feet to make sure I wasn't wearing roller skates and I wasn't at the local skating rink.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

the local skating rink

I knew I couldn't be there because my sense of balance is so bad - I avoid anything like that. I went once in the 1980s. My girlfriend thought it was so cute and funny as I kept going slower and slower or I went over to the rail to hold on for dear life. We broke up a couple weeks later. I'm not saying the two things are connected. But...

It's pum pum. There's a reason it's called "rump shaker"; it's about worshipping others' rumps...

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Like if you're gonna dope yourself up, just fucking OD on the stuff

No need to splatter yourself everywhere

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

It's actually difficult to reliably OD. Not that I would recommend suicide but I would especially not recommend routes with a good chance of leaving you alive with organ, inc brain, damage.

Don't intentionally OD.

CW: Discussion of personal experience of an OD attempt

My ex, who is the smartest guy I've ever known tried to OD. He went very hard, without details there were layers. He was found and lived, and very luckily for him had only minor brain injury and somewhat serious lung damage.

The experience was traumatic as fuck for him and everyone who was there and his entire family.

I say this as like, if a determined person who is medically educated and thinks they have a foolproof plan they've planned for months can fuck up and live (yay!) then anyone can. Don't OD, it's not a painless way out.
