Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Imagine my surprise reading this on the LA Times this morning (emphasis mine):

“I would not acknowledge reproduction as a human right, but instead as a form ofremoved,” IndictEvolution wrote on Lemmy.World in July 2023. “I am also not bothered by infanticide as long as it is done humanely...”

Here is an archive of the article.

Here is his account.

It looks like he only stayed on Lemmy for about a month, most likely a temporary Reddit exile with the earliest exodus on June 2023. The article mentions threads on Reddit but doesn't provide any quotes from there. User IndictEvolution on Reddit deleted their account, and the article makes it sound like they are referring to a different username that they don't specify.

He volunteered that he wanted to kill himself by strapping an explosive to his head, setting the timer for one hour and drugging himself to sleep. He said he lacked access to any drug stronger than codeine. Available explosives were not the problem.

It made me think of this: All I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom in da boom-boom

Ninja edit. My life is a lie. It's not "in da boom-boom" it's "and a poom-poom". Where do I go from here?

This song was banned in my middle school

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 36 points 1 week ago (4 children)

My middle school became a prison after Columbine

I got accused of wearing gang colors because I had a pair of yellow and black sneakers

They said it was Latin Kings, but it just reminded me of Bumblebee from Transformers!

Being one of the resident nerds taking college classes in highschool, I was threatened with arrest for bringing my book bag full of very expensive books to school.

[–] grysbok@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 week ago

Look at this braggart with their book bag!/s

(My school banned book bags from middle school onward due to security concerns. It sucked so much having to hold on to 3+ textbooks in my arms for my hour+ bus rides. My arms were buff for a middle schooler.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Yeah, we had the gang color accusations as well

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

My friend's house got raided because some popular girls thought he was weird and was going to shoot up the school... for no apparent reason at all.

The cops tore his house to shit and gave his dad the nth degree about having a bag of lawn fertilizer in the garage.

That shit was so fucked up.

Just shake ya rump!

[–] D61@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I had to look down at my feet to make sure I wasn't wearing roller skates and I wasn't at the local skating rink.

It's pum pum. There's a reason it's called "rump shaker"; it's about worshipping others' rumps...

Like if you're gonna dope yourself up, just fucking OD on the stuff

No need to splatter yourself everywhere

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

It's actually difficult to reliably OD. Not that I would recommend suicide but I would especially not recommend routes with a good chance of leaving you alive with organ, inc brain, damage.

Don't intentionally OD.

CW: Discussion of personal experience of an OD attempt

My ex, who is the smartest guy I've ever known tried to OD. He went very hard, without details there were layers. He was found and lived, and very luckily for him had only minor brain injury and somewhat serious lung damage.

The experience was traumatic as fuck for him and everyone who was there and his entire family.

I say this as like, if a determined person who is medically educated and thinks they have a foolproof plan they've planned for months can fuck up and live (yay!) then anyone can. Don't OD, it's not a painless way out.

Radical Centrist Insurgency spawning out of Lemmy.world, shocking.

[–] Lyudmila@hexbear.net 60 points 1 week ago

frizz-lecture Wow, looks like the tankies weren't the problem with the fediverse!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 55 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wow it's almost like the fuckhead's running Lemmyworld chased away everyone left of neoliberal-fascist-sympathiser or outright fascist and created an utterly psychotic community as a result.

Who could have possibly predicted this?

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They also dont moderate like at all, unless people forced them, or when they pick fights with the userbase (like when they purged the vegan modteam because one admin lost a debate to a vegan)

[–] turtle@lemm.ee 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pretty uneven and odd moderation, I would say. They were taking down any posts discussing jury nullification when Luigi went to the top of the news.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh yea, especially when they are a european based instance so talking about USA events and legal stuff shouldnt affect them at all

[–] turtle@lemm.ee 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They were like, "something, something, laws, jurisdiction" but then eventually dropped the policy, afaik. Maybe they were finally convinced by the fact that jury nullification is perfectly legal in the US.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

More likely that they're turbolibs and make pretty much all decisions based on vibes. They wanted to be against the violence because they're turbolibs but the vibes are so overwhelmingly against them on the topic of luigi they don't.

Liberals can be shaped into anything you want liberals to be as long as you create the conditions within the population. They take on whatever the vibes tell them to take on.

Clearly this must've been Hexbear's fault, we trolled him so bad it broke his brain

CW: transphobia "i support trans people 'cause they're an affront to life and i hate life" is certainly a take

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

In order to trans your gender you must clearcut 100 acres of the rainforest and kill blonde tradcaths

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 47 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Reddit dot world not beating the allegations.

How long until they start saying that actually this guy was a Hexbear and was just infiltrating to make them look bad.

They seem to have already started with that: https://lemm.ee/post/64580410/20600907

i remember there was a thread about this strain of antinatalists less than a month ago

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 35 points 1 week ago

Also removed as the only mod of the Antinatalism comm on lemmy.world as of three days ago.

Leftists wouldn't be caught dead doing stupid shit like this

Very interesting! I may have chosen the wrong Lemmy forum to include in my Misinformation, Extremism, and Conspiracism studies...

"Is this the end of Rico?" GIF was too large to upload

"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."

The new billionaire owner of the LA Times has turned it into a reichwing propaganda rag. It's like getting a mention in the National Enquierer or Wall Street Journal.

The dot worlders are probably responding like, "He couldn't have been one of us. We never go outside!"

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 week ago

but the terms of service should have prevented this surely????

[–] Staines@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Lemmy.world? The instance full of misanthropic baby hating terrorists?

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

He was a rationalist yeah?
