Rockstar waited 12 years to release it so they'd get a new generation of moral outrage free advertising.
It's hilarious because there is literally nothing that could make kids want to play a game more than some asshole in a suit saying the game is too sexual for kids.
Yeah, someone said that this is all astroturfed by Rockstar, and I kind of half believe it. The previous games sold really well due to controversy giving them free publicity. So it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted this one to also be "controversial" as a form of free advertising.
