Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum was announced to be in development on May 9, 2024 with a planned release in 2026. The script is being developed by Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and set to be directed by and star Andy Serkis.

It's a spinoff of the Lord of the Rings XXVIII extended cinematic universe. Each of the cast and crew of LotR XXVIII get a film about them.
Oh, my mistake. And then each film could have it own franchise to create the LOTR multiverse cinematic universe.
