I saw it too, got dragged there by a friend. I've been deep into X-Men since I was a kid, so maybe your experience will be different. There were clearly some writers involved who know X-Men lore and know what makes the fans squeal like piggies.
As a movie it's just very very silly. Like it's silly to the point I never felt much tension in the plot. Nothing seemed to matter and everything felt like a set-up to the next joke or reference. It's fun though and some of the fight scenes are cool, as far as marvel CGI fights go.
I've always had a personal dislike of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, not because of his acting or anything, but because Wolverine in the comics is 5'3" and Jackman is 6'2". Wolverine is usually the shortest character in any given scene and I always thought that was kinda cool. It shouldn't matter but it always bugged me. The movie actually acknowledges the height difference in a kinda funny way, so I'll give it points for that.
Hugh Japan
Yeah sorry rushed autocorrect
So you're saying they should have given him the Frodo Baggins treatment? Lol
That bit got a genuine laugh from me.
