I’m shocked that we don’t have more terminally-ill super soldiers going out in style.

Someone should green light a Bucket List/Day of the Jackal hybrid story to radicalize our terminally ill into action.

[–] AntifaSuperWombat@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago

Terminally-ill people usually highly value the time they have left and don’t want to waste them in jail or in a courtroom.

Or they are already is such a bad condition that prevents them from carrying out assassinations.

Just make deposing CEOs legal, problem solved shrug-outta-hecks

Purge day but it’s only for the ultra wealthy and everyone teams up to track them down

[–] Bonescape@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

wonder whod get the biggest team together, probably elon? ☺️

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

I’d go after Bezos, he’s more of a Lex Luthor type whereas Elon is like Mojo Jojo or some shit

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

We frame it as an "alpha male survival program". That would definitely, at the very least, get Zuck and Elon.

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

We do Squid Game, but instead of killing them, when they lose, they lose all their assets, have their identity changed, and get major plastic surgery to the point of being unrecognizable, so they can't get rich again, because the connections they made won't recognize them.

They'd probably then do the deed themselves, as becoming working class truly is a fate worse than death for them.

Fun fact, most copycat crimes don't take place until a year after the initial event so be patient

2025 may be a bit dull unless Christmas comes early but 2026 is looking to be fucking lit sicko-pig

Why tf do people keep plowing into crowds with cars and shoot school kids but not copypasta 'a Luigi'?

I'm not even expressing an opinion, I just don't find it like statistically possible nobody wants new (well, "new") exciting game like that.

[–] Krono@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mass murderers tend to be deeply mentally unwell, don't expect the majority of them to have a deep sense of morality nor class consciousness.

I do believe/hope Luigi copycats are coming. It takes a year or two of planning and preparation to do it right, so we gotta be patient.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

Yes, perhaps you are right about the timing/opportunity, that would explain a lot (it's easier to target randos).

And yes about the deeply unwell part too, but I still think at least some percentage prob have the means and knowhow (and obsessions).

the answer is probably collective action. cant arrest all of us.

bonus: its probably more effective too. not that putting fear in them isnt effective, but we are looking for systemic change aint we?

we must be prepared to spin the mangiones that do happen in our favor though. because it will happen again whether we want it or not, things arent sustainable as they are.

[–] bdonvr@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago

I was really hoping there'd be at least one copycat. There's still time I guess

I'd put a disclaimer for the fedposting to say I wouldn't do something like that, but they already know we're too LIB to be monitored. sicko-wistful

Luigi came so close to getting away with it. 99% perfect opsec.

[–] starkillerfish@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Luigi is innocent

[–] CrookedSerpent@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Yeah keeping your fake IDs and the murder weapon on you a week later, and taking your mask off to flirt with a secretary is totally perfect opsec :)

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It'll be interesting to read the indictment

Edit:

https://www.justice.gov/d9/2024-12/signed_complaint_mangione.pdf

No rocket science here they just tracked him on camera. if he had changed clothes in the park and put the bag inside of another bag they wouldn't have gotten him

Still I wouldn't call carrying the weapon with a confession a 1% opsec slip

"People don't want to work anymore"

[–] Tomboymoder@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

We really don’t.
Propaganda of the deed only has so much value.
