This subreddit is so heavily bot astroturfed

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 10 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

The whole move to BlueSky thing is incredibly bot astroturfed. You cannot tell me with a straight face that this is organic activity:

The post about moving to BlueSky somehow has more upvotes in less than a day, than Liverpool winning the PL for the first time in three decades!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I could see this happening if the majority of the subreddit would vote for it AND the outside users seeing it on /r/all would also vote for it. The members of /r/all wouldn't have voted up the club's win.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

I wish they were all bots and not just racist.

Questions like this absolutely destroy AI unlike any other. It's the best test I know of as a sort of "captcha" for comment bots right now

[–] VHS@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

"Hostile foreign government" lol, lmao even. Did the US State Department write this?

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago

It actually might have been. Some of the commenters alleged that the head mod is literally a fed

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

I mean, probably.

[–] FeelThePower@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 1 day ago

it's amazing how even when they are acknowledging hatred of their own country they still fall for the propoganda that China is evil and must hate them. ahahahaha.

Yeah, hostile to who? this is sinophobic shit.

big-honk Hostile to who? Hostile to who, motherfucker?

[–] qcop@hexbear.net 83 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Lmao, US people thinking they are the only ones on the internet once again. At least a lot of users in the post are pushing against the last bullet point stating how CIA coded it is.

[–] TechnoUnionTypeBeat@hexbear.net 55 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Unfortunately a lot of them are doing it by being chauvinistic as fuck by saying that is Tencent owns even a fraction of something then the entire platform automatically becomes an evil SeeSeePee propaganda tool

"we hate our own government but we will also believe everything they say about its enemies and act in its best interests"

Workers of the World Unite!.. unless they are apart of an adversarial government as defined by our capitalist oligarchs and businessmen, then prepare for war!

Everything you hear on Rednote is propaganda! Plug your ears and cover your eyes! Don't listen to it!

I know it was a Chinese app for a Chinese audience and that it's essentially been invaded by a bunch of Americans recently, but i swear everyone on there is just bots pretending they're normal people purely to propagandize Americans.

USAians are the most self-centered people in the world 🙄

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 day ago

See also: When Hexbear federated with lemmy. A forum that was just doing their own thing for years was secretly bots and trolls just keeping up appearances to trick The Most Important People In The World.

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

China created RedNote and filled it with bots who were just interacting with each other for years just on the off chance that Westerners might someday discover it, just like they did with Hexbear.

The anti-China hysteria is comically over the top, but it’s kinda hard to laugh at the pure delusion

This is just living in a bubble. I guess that's how libs plan to deal with another 4 years of Trump. Brunch 2.0, just shut the windows and doors, batten down the hatches, and pretend everything is fine. Nothing to see here.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So … the same thing they did under Biden?

I’m starting to think this is just the default Lib behavior

well I did my best in the antiwork trenches comrades but the lib brain rot is too much for me so I'm signing off. May another comrade pick up my rifle and continue to fight on after me for fear of being gunned down by hexbear mods for retreating /s. reddit logo

So will it be China who gets the blame for Trump this time?

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 35 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There have been a few “Trump is obviously bought by China” posts since the primaries. Wouldn’t be surprised if they go with this.

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

BREAKING: Trump strikes Beijing. Experts suggest this was ordered by Xi.

"hostile foreign government" as opposed to the local government which is very cool and gets along great with you. FFS your own government is 40x more hostile to you than China.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 55 points 1 day ago (9 children)

Also wtf is up with conflating China and the "far right"? Is communism the far right? What is going on in Reddit radlib town?

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 50 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

They do the same thing as the right, where their politics is defined by "maximum freedom" and any divergence is a step towards the opposite pole. This is why rightists call Hitler a communist, and why radlibs call Stalin a fascist. They are unreformed libertarians lmao.

Liberals in general believe themselves to be the furthest left you can rationally be. Anything to their left is unreasonable, counterproductive, and functionally right-wing.

Unlike Reddit where the director of policy is a former Atlantic Council ghoul. You know… a patriot.

[–] Vampire@hexbear.net 33 points 1 day ago

They should ban Reddit-related content too.

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 71 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (10 children)

I went to check out that thread, and holy shit do I fucking hate chauvinistic Western anti-China liberals AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

And hostile to whom? As a European, I'm subjected to the same bullshit from the US.

maybe-later-honey The environment, for one.

Several lawmakers said publicly last summer you can search it, pro-Palestinian content was WHY tiktok was being banned — the threat to them is people waking up from WITHIN, and they’re counting on the average U.S. audience’s Sinophobia for people to believe chinas the reason.

maybe-later-honey Lmfao yes it’s a threat when an algo run by china can affect public opinion in the US, yes.

Yep. Saw quite a few "life as an office worker in china" type videos and more than one showed 2 hour lunch breaks. Not to mention the grocery hauls, explanation about how they're not paying property tax and their home is theirs, cheap luxury cars that far outmatched western ones, etc. Us westerners are learning what life could be like if govt cared about its people.

maybe-later-honey you fell for the chinese propaganda, hook line and sinker if you think that’s at all representative of the average chinese worker. Please think for yourself, and don’t let a chinese propaganda app do it for you

I think you'd be surprised about how much the user base of red note would agree with this sub. I regularly see Chinese netizen ask why Americans put up with such a broken system, why we haven't revolted. We have been fed a lot of propaganda about the people of China.

maybe-later-honey They want you to revolt not because we are in solidarity with you, but because it would be easier to beat your ass should one day come to it… not saying that you shouldn’t revolt, but how naive of you to think we actually support you or something lol

I guess being Chinese doesn't prevent you from saying stupid shit

[–] SuperNovaCouchGuy2@hexbear.net 60 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The environment, for one.

THE BLOODY US GOVERNMENT IS AT LEAST 100 TIMES MORE HOSTILE TO THE ENVIRONMENT THAN CHINA, WHO THE FUCK LET OIL COMPANIES GET AWAY WITH PUSHING CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL PROPAGANDA FOR DECADES?!?!? CHINA IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST PRODUCERS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND SOLAR TECH WHILE THE STUPID FUCKING COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE US JUST PULLED OUT OF THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT. GOD FUCKING DAMN IT.

Even if the worst predictions about China are true, I can't see what harm China is gonna do to the average redditor in Burgerland.

Fed-ass subreddit

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

Funny story. I actually met someone who was a power poster on that sub. They bragged about how a taxi driver refused to drive them because they were being nasty and so they took the taxi driver to court over it. Also kept telling me how “crazy” China is and boycotted live-action Mulan because the actress supported the crackdown on the Hong Kong rioters.

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago (5 children)

The Hong Kong protests happening around the same time as the BLM protests should have opened the eyes of the average lib but did not. These people would gladly denounce China because they grabbed a protestor off the streets who was firebombing things but when protestors were being grabbed off the streets and thrown into unmarked vans in Seattle and Portland they openly cheered for it. When Hong Kong protestors burned people alive they clutched pearls but stood with them because the victim was a China supporter (or just a passer-by). When a murder happened in Seattle they bayed for blood of the entire encampment. Any attempt to point out these similarities and the disparity between their response to them was met with a simple hand-wave, "it's different."

Fuck democrat liberals. I hate them as much as I hate republican liberals.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago

Also, the Hong Kong protesters displayed no solidarity whatsoever and instead immediately started throwing temper tantrums that the limelight was off of them and started doing extremely racist posts against Lebron James and black people in general.

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 25 points 1 day ago

Its true, the chinese people on rednote made fun of how much ice i put in my water and it really hurt my feelings

[–] CommCat@hexbear.net 36 points 1 day ago (3 children)

even when they were run by a bunch of silly Anarchists (typical online Anarchists), they were very hostile to "tankies", they had no problem with Libs, but will ban "tankies". No wonder it was so easy for libs to take over that sub and turn it into a liberal work reforms. That and one of the anarchist mods doing an interview on Fox news and totally bombing it.
