[–] shittydwarf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 30 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Also star trek! So. Much. Star Trek

[–] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 25 points 5 months ago (1 children)

You should use Linux and look at my programmer socks πŸ‘

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

I completely neglected Linux, I'm guessing because I'm a Linux user and the amount of discourse on here seems pretty reasonable to me.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago (2 children)

You seem to be implying that there's such a thing as too much trek, which is preposterous

[–] shittydwarf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 months ago

Truth is I have a themed alt account solely for posting trek memes, I'm here for it

That's good! Feel free to post it as its own post here!

More mobile apps that you'll ever need

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Should I stop working on my Lemmy app πŸ˜…

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's up to you! https://www.lemmyapps.com/

But now I feel like desktop/website UI would be more interesting, as there are few opions on that space.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago (2 children)

...what if I told you my app was a website, desktop app, and mobile app all in one. Still have a lot of work to do, and expect it to be best optimized for mobile, but I'm pretty confident I can launch with a better desktop experience then Voyager.

Can someone make a version of this saying lemmy has no adds. I think that honestly is the best selling point for reddit users at this point.

[–] Libb@jlai.lu 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Here you are.

Btw, the source file (SVG) is available on my Git repo on Codeberg ;)

[–] CatZoomies@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Thanks for making this, and especially using an excellent design in a shareable meme format that pitches Lemmy simply to users.

One day we may need to have ads to pay the bills if we have another massive Reddit exodus. What are your thoughts on creating an alternate one that says something like β€œyour data not tracked or sold”?

Thx.

I'm hostile to ads, fully and openly and I'd rather pay than be forced to look at ads. But that's just my personal opinion and I would not want to impose it on anyone. At least, I think that's also what freedom should mean: the freedom for anyone to disagree with me and me with anyone ;)

The first version of the file had no mention of ads (I simply deleted it by mistake ;) and you can get the SVG here.

Im brand new here and digging it. The lack of ads is a big part of that. That and the chiller vibe. I do wish it had gifs/videos. Not just images & text

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Welcome! There are a few gifs, posted one on !lego@lemm.ee yesterday

[–] SSGGambit@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

Thank you!

Ah! That’s the fist I’ve seen. Glad to know that it supports the format. I hadn’t seen any and was beginning to wonder.

Never understood this point. There's no way you can move your account (including full history) to another instance, right?

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 5 months ago

The main point is being able to still access all of the communities if your admin goes rogue (similar to what Reddit is doing). That's possible on Lemmy, you export / import your settings and you're set.

Keep the same username, add a link to your new and old profiles and the bio, and you just moved instances. You may have lost your comments history, but there is no karma anyway, so why care? And it's still accessible on your old account.

Sopuli.xyz is a very confusing and off putting name for newbies.

[–] Temperche@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Maybe could be a little bit more professional-looking :D

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 7 points 5 months ago

I prefer it over anything that looks too slick, because then it feels like a corporation made it

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 months ago

It's a meme :)

The two pinned posts in this community are more serious

[–] obsolete@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago (9 children)

I found a lot of good things on Lemmy... But, I can never go 'full-Lemmy', because I hate the politics crap.

[–] obsolete@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 months ago

Thank you! This is what I need. I prefer to block based on words rather than blocking the whole instance thing. :)

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

We honestly need more normies to balance it out a bit, that's for sure.
