anakin-padme-1 liberals are fascist

anakin-padme-2 yeah its wild how, in the global context, western libs and right wingers are barely distinguishable bloodthirsty imperialists, mostly owing to their shared forebears, from which marxists stand apart. thats what you mean right?

anakin-padme-3 Mussolini was an anarchist

anakin-padme-4

[–] DinosaurThussy@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’ve straight up gotten the “Mussolini was a socialist” talking point in the wild before and it was maddening. Like are you being intentionally obtuse about him later denouncing socialism and founding the fascist party or do you just think those are the same thing anyway?

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He was literally kicked out of the Socialist party for his nationalist bullshit!

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

It doesn't matter to chuds, they have a whole media ecosystem that re-writes history to claim [bad thing] is Marxist, and also somehow tied to the democrats.

Reminds me of when my mom's boyfriend forced us to go buy a book about climate change denial and wanted us all to read it but when we got to books-a-million (libraries are liberal brainwashing institutions), he got distracted by sports magazines and read those and I ended up reading a people's history of the united states.

As grotesque as they are now in the mask off period, I do not miss the era the fascists spent doing the "Nooo, I'm not a fascist teehee, fascism is bad berdly-smug, maybe you're the fascist for thinking thatedgeworth-shrug" routine

[–] eyyImwalkin@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

sometimes I pretend to be one of those and I type in a purposefully obsolete outdated way to net myself extra downvotes

just doin my part

[–] AshenWolf@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 31 points 1 day ago

I'm so sorry comrade sadness

[–] CleverOleg@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Saw this at my folks’ house, apparently my dad’s Sunday School men’s group is going through it. I skimmed it, kinda boring honestly just your basic red-baiting of democrats. I wanted to argue with him about it but my dad is such a political dumbass it would like arguing with a dog.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

but my dad is such a political dumbass it would like arguing with a dog.

What an insult to dogs! It's probably more like arguing with a brick wall

I could swore that book was written by Glenn Beck, but lo and behold my memory was wrong and he had a much more interesting book

Also when I was young my dad bought this book and made me read it, among other radio reactionary shock jokey shite books.

I think the only book I can actually remember anything about was Mark Levine's book about his rescue dog he adopted and how after only a few weeks the dog suffered severe medical issues that lead to two years of the dog slowly dying and the memories mark and his family had with him during that time. It's funny how the least political shit stuck with me and everything else didn't stick

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago

this book reminds me about all the "small government" talk that was so big from reagan until around 2018 that has almost died out now that it has been exposed to be an absolute sham

[–] ourtimewillcome@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

why is the fascist moron in the picture wearing a modified west-german air force uniform?

also

ayaguing with idiots

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Because he's an evangelical fascist that was one of the precurser Banner-Heralds to the contemporary American reactionary movement and had to put on theatrical shows to entertain and woo the hogs to adopting his ideology on Fox News.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

Is that Glenn Beck himself on the cover? "I'm going to dress up like a commie! That'll own the libs!"

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Why is the r backwards? Some dogwhistle i haven't heard (wakka wakka)?

[–] context@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i think it's just meant to evoke an autonomic fear response to anything vaguely soviet in people conditioned by decades of anti-communist propaganda

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago

Ahhh, i get it, thanks. It "makes sense" to the vibes-based boomer neurons lol

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago

Probably a jab at the Russians.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Somehow making just one of the letters faux Cyrillic bothers me more than making the whole text faux Cyrillic.

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes it's just so aggressively stupid in some kinda way that gets my jimmies flutterin

you should get them a copy of this book. and just straight up blow their minds. or at least piss them off if they make it far enough to understand what the words in the title actually mean.

[–] Cadende@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

Not the Charles Murray inscription why-post-this

I had a super-quickie look at Jonah Goldberg's Wikipedia page. It seemed pretty tedious and I was about to close the tab when I saw something out of the corner of my eye...

Clinton–Lewinsky scandal

Goldberg's mother Lucianne Goldberg was involved in the Clinton–Lewinsky scandal as detailed in The New Yorker. Goldberg has spoken of his mother and the Lewinsky scandal:

My mother was the one who advised Linda Tripp to record her conversations with Monica Lewinsky and to save the dress. I was privy to some of that stuff, and when the administration set about to destroy Lewinsky, Tripp, and my mom, I defended my mom and by extension Tripp ... I have zero desire to have those arguments again. I did my bit in the trenches of Clinton's trousers.

These tapes became the focal point of the Lewinsky scandal.

Do they go to half priced books often? I've seen this book all the time there. Their political section is possibly the worst collection of books I've ever seen. Just the chuddiest shit imaginable

[–] Cadende@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

they're also virulent union busters, fun fact.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago
[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

If it weren't written by chuds, it could be a good book about how liberalism is the seed from which fascism sprouts and how libs historically aided and abetted fascists.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If it's any consolation, no one actually reads those books. They're just a way for conservatives to show that they belong to the in group.

You could release a book like this that says something like "From Stalin to Obama to Biden; The left's damage to history" and just have the whole thing be Lorem Ipsum and no one would notice.

[–] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Is this "horseshoe theory"-the book?

[–] mechwarrior2@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

worse, its "fascism is and was left wing"

[–] Self_Sealing_Stem_Bolt@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Funny how only "centrists" say this shit. Nazis know they're right wing.

Centrists help keep libs ignorant and docile, ready to help fascists

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

I know Slate is cringe, but they did a decent if lib review of this book https://slate.com/culture/2008/01/jonah-goldberg-s-liberal-fascism.html
