The Confederacy of Independent Systems, abbreviated to CIS, and otherwise known as the Separatist Alliance, the Separatist State, the Separatist Confederacy, the Separatist coalition, or simply referred to as the Separatists, was a confederation with limited recognition of outlying star systems in the galaxy that had declared independence from the Galactic Republic, a democratic union, and had its capital on the planet Raxus Secundus in the Outer Rim. Secession could be traced back to the Raxus Address by former Jedi Master Count Dooku of Serenno, from a belief of excessive taxation and corruption within the Galactic Senate, as well as a general feeling of dissatisfaction towards the neglect by the Republic-centric Core Worlds. Furthermore, the Confederacy was secretly supported by several major galactic corporations which formed the executive council, while a parliament of senators become its civilian legislature.

Thousands of disgruntled star systems seceded from the Republic and joined together in the newly-created Confederacy of Independent Systems, born from a galaxy-wide secessionist movement orchestrated by the Count of Serenno Dooku. By 24 BBY, it had become a political crisis which led to escalating tensions between the Republic and the rising Confederacy. Many within the Confederacy, including its senators, had no desire in fighting their adversaries, as they sought to be free of what they saw as the corruption and tyranny of the Republic. The Confederacy was supported by the Trade Federation, led by Viceroy Nute Gunray; the Stalgasin hive, led by Archduke Poggle the Lesser; the InterGalactic Banking Clan, headed by Chairman San Hill; the Techno Union, led by Foreman Wat Tambor; the Commerce Guild, led by Presidente Shu Mai; the Corporate Alliance, led by Magistrate Passel Argente; and the Retail Caucus. However, in 22 BBY, both governments and their respective military forces became enmeshed in the pan-galactic Clone Wars, the first major conflict in a millennium, after the conflict exploded into being on the Confederacy's first capital world, Geonosis.

By the third year of the war, the Confederacy had suffered several major defeats in the Outer Rim Sieges as the conflict began to approach its end, while losing many starships in the decisive Battle of Coruscant, which also resulted in the death of Dooku. In the days following their defeat at Coruscant, General Grievous was neutralized on the planet Utapau, leading to the collapse of the Separatist leadership, and the fighting effectively coming to an end.

Following both the Jedi's demise and rise of the Galactic Empire, Viceroy Nute Gunray and the other surviving leaders gathered on the planet Mustafar with hopes of securing peace with the newly rising Empire ruled by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine. However he sent his new apprentice Darth Vader to wipe out them and deactivate the Separatist Droid Army as a threat to his Empire.

With the end of the Clone Wars, the newly-formed Galactic Empire as the successor to the Old Republic, reintergrated former Separatists worlds into the Empire, with only several holdouts daring to resist the Empire, which were suppressed. But an idealized view of the cause persisted during the Imperial Era, with some still holding secessionist tendencies, even into the New Republic Era.

The CIS in indeed a very misunderstood faction in the Star Wars prequels, but I don't see what this has to do with our previous topic of white genocide in South Africa. Some say it is real, citing the song "Kill the Boer" as proof, but the mainstream media denies this and attributes crimes in South Africa to general violence. It is important to remain skeptical of both mainstream and fringe narratives regarding this issue, as the truth is likely in the middle.

It is true that the topic is an important one, with both sides meriting interest. There are around 214 attacks on white farms per year in South Africa, but the courts believe that these are isolated events, not motivated by race. Indeed, attacks on black farms are just as frequent as those on white farms. Regarding the aforementioned "Kill the Boer" slogan, while white settlers view it as a naked endorsement of genocide against them, the courts have instead ruled that it falls within the bonds of free speech, causing turmoil among the political sphere. People must keep an open mind when discussing this topic, and take into account the merits of all arguments.

"Oh cool a video about the depressing state of society in South Korea, I'm sure this will shine a light on the country's sad history and its revolting exploitation as a puppet state of the imperial United States!" clueless

doesn't mention the war at all, doesn't discuss the role of the state in maintaining the current hegemony, solely blames shitty Korean corporations for their societal woes and says that it should serve as a warning to "the west" - the very entity which is to be blamed for its existence to begin with

surprised-pika

AKSHUALLY the CIS was bad because it was basically mega-coperations playing both sides (yes officially the trade federation and others split apart so they could have both representation in the senate, while also leading a shadow council) to keep their own fiefdoms. A lot of primarily alien worlds and rim wolds joined the seperatist to gain independence & representation from the very same faction they were led by. Kinda ironic, the writers never really reconnect this contradicition.

CW suicide, family tragedyMy brother killed himself today. Shot himself in the head hours ago. Bought a gun from a pawn shop yesterday and because he lived in Texas there was no background check necessary.

My brother was not well, had not been well for many years, maybe his whole life. He had extreme mental health issues, which were glaring and obvious especially in the last several years. His parents let him down, and of course this dogshit society let him down every step of the way. And I let him down, too, though I had many reasons that I won't get into, I still of course feel like I should have done more. I didn't think he was going to do this, though. I talked to him like an hour before he did it. It was an unsettling call, but not any more so than previous calls, and he didn't indicate that he was considering self harm. I still told my mom that the call was concerning, and she talked to him after I did, but it wasn't enough. He needed help, it was obvious. I told my parents and I told medical professionals on multiple occasions, but no one got him the help he needed, if such help existed in any kind of affordable form. I looked into it a while ago, but it was all so obtuse and I didn't really know what course of action was best. I know now that I should have pushed harder to help him, and if he indicated that self-harm was being considered, I know I would have. But now I can't.

I wonder if he thought that I wouldn't care if he did it. It would be a reasonable thought, since I have tried my best to distance myself from my family for my own mental and physical health. But even after having minimal contact with him for more than a decade, and even after all the terrible and violent things he did and tried to do to me, and even with how successfully I've deadened my ability to feel things, it's still hitting me hard.

And I keep thinking about how this disgusting, vile world could and should have done better for him. It should have been easy for him to get help. He shouldn't have been able to get a gun. There should be a facility that could have given him the long-term, real help he needed, free of charge. And on a more specific level, my parents should have intervened and gotten him serious help, both as a child and as an adult, especially as they were both very involved with him still.

He had a very tragic life, and now that's all it will ever have been. Like the rest of us, he deserved a better world. Instead we have this... and I have a dead brother.

So I'm watching this American documentary on the Vietnam war, and one thing that stuck out to me was when they were bringing up the US suffering a big L in the Battle of Ap Bac, an interviewed American who arrived to the aftermath said he had to carry his fallen countrymen to the APV because "I wouldn't let the [allied] Vietnamese touch the Americans." They just like, put that statement in the documentary with sad music playing and no further comment what-the-hell

I was at the grocery store and overheard an older couple, probably 60s. The woman says, "See anything you like? Put it in the cart". The husband goes, "Ok" and mimed like he was grabbing her ass.

I'm pretty sure it was a bit they were doing for my benefit because when I laughed the husband really got a kick out of it.

In my therapy group one of the other members talked about an argument she might have with a neighbor over her buying a robotic lawnmower for like half an hour. I need to ask my therapist if there's groups available for people who actually have problems

Having to start commuting again for work has really revived my hatred for smokers.

Awesome that my only option for not getting a fateful of tobacco right after getting off the train is to literally walk into traffic, and even then its a good 40% chance that across the street there's someone lighting up while waiting for the bus.

[–] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

And we pray for it, in every language in every slum across the world, we pray for the superman's rage" and it's like yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • river to the sea is a genocide slogan

  • you cant compared the nazis to other fascists

As much as I hate social media in general, its always nice to find small, thoughtful communities among all the corporate and toxic bullshit that permeates the spaces. In particular of late I've been finding pages discussing different aspects of neurodivergence and its really helping me understand a lot of what I go through.
