What the title says. I got a new phone for Christmas—a modern model (released last year). While I'm known to be an avid gamer, I've never played much on mobile phones. So, once again, I'm reaching out to the Hexbear collective for help. What are some good, fun, or addictive games for phones? The only things I don't care for are rhythm or puzzle games. I'm interested in everything, from games you can play for 10 minutes while waiting for a call to games you can play daily.

Also I already played a ton of Vampire Survivors on Pc so no need to recommend that.

Adding to the GBA tactics games - Advanced Wars 1&2, and Tactics Ogre: the Knight of Lodis (this is a spinoff of the original Tactics Ogre that got a recent remaster).

From F-Droid:

  • Gridle - slide letters around form words in the fewest moves.

  • Lexica - form words from a grid of letters quickly.

  • Puzzles - a collection of great puzzles games all in one app.

I like hoplite, fun tactics rougelike. I've only played the free version (which eventually gets old) but the paid version (like $5 or something), adds more features and areas to go through

I just want a Mahjong game without the anime waifu aesthetic.

Emulate some classic games. Did you know Dolphin is on Android now, and you can emulate everything from the GameCube and Wii on the go?

Every single mobile game I know and loved is lost to time. These days i just play cod mobile, decent game for the shitter if you have internet.

If you like civ5, unciv is great, but also consider that it’s open source and the tail end of the game/features may not be implemented yet.

If you enjoy games like dota or lol then Pokemon Unite was pretty fun when I still played it

Another Eden.

Kinda of a spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger. It has a gacha component but you can complete the main game without spending money.

I would get a transfer code and write that down. Their updates can bug out sometimes.

I play Minecraft on my phone but it costs five dollars and the controls take a bit to get used to

If you haven't played it on PC slay the spire is my goat. I couldn't tell you another game I've 100%'d. I think ive put in like 200 hours.

Someone mentioned desert golfing here a few years back. I still play it now. It's so minimal. No settings. No music. Just get the ball in the hole. You can play it for 30 seconds or 30 minutes.

Everyone does it differently bit I'm a bit more selective about games I play on my phone. I've done some roms/emulators but I'd rather just play those on my computer. I only like games that I can go into or drop at a moments notice.

if you're on android, the https://f-droid.org/en/ installer is a must. It's a platform for free and open source applications.

you can also download the apk files directly from the website. I recommend Sudoku: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.moire.opensudoku/

Euclid is very satisfying if you like geometry and devilishly difficult puzzles.

If you walk a lot, Orna is a gps based rpg that i quite like

slice & dice is an extremely fun rogue Lite type party based game where you roll and lock dice that have your abilities on them. Many clever synergies for items and abilities to make obscenely overpowered builds to annihilate the last bosses. Then story over to do it again. There's no progression mechanics. But you do unlock things to play with as you accomplish things in the game. Has 4 difficulties and a dozen alternate gameplay modes. It has a demo with half a run in it. And it's about 5 bucks to buy the whole thing. That all you'll pay. Try demo if you don't like walk away.

Rise of Cultures is a game I've played for at least a couple years. You're in it for the long haul, for sure.
