The weather has been even shitter than usual in the UK this spring. Normally we'd have had a few decent days by now, but it's just been cold, windy and overcast after our unsettlingly mild winter.

Anyway, it's amazing how much a bit of sun picks up my mood. The sun is out today and the world seems slightly less shit. The birds are singing and I'm seeing insects flitting about.

The sun is good for mental health.

It's funny because I am kind of the opposite

I always feel better on overcast or rainy days

Probably something to do with my allergies and the weather dissuading the plants from shooting pollen into my face

[–] abc@hexbear.net 8 points 6 months ago

SAME but I'm not allergic to pollen or anything kitty-birthday-sad I just like grey, cloudy, rainy/windy days 110% more than I do your standard clear day. literally will wake up with a smile on my face as soon as my brain realizes 'oh, that sound is raindrops hitting the window'

the sun is both real and the source of all life on earth. reject modernity, retvrn to worshipping the sun

I love when its kinda cool outside (but not cold) and the sun is behind a cloud and then slowly, the cloud moves and the sun's warmth washes over my face mmmm

conversely, I also love when it's a perfectly sunny day and the darkest storm clouds ever roll in and make earth feel like an eternal twilight

Ynow how movies will tweak colour grading to make a place look worse than it is. Well the UK has a real life desaturation filter on 24/7 that drains the colour out of everything.

Praise the sun for allowing me to see colour this year praise-it

I appreciate the need for its existence, but I could happily go without ever seeing it.

the sun gives me migraines agony-deep. I love mild, sunny days (like today) but I have to sit in a dark room instead. I get so much worse in the summer and start to get better in the winters.

[–] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yes. The sun causes all the pain in the world.

Unfortunately, changes in weather also give me migraines, so the defeat of the sun is no good, either.

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago

weather is caused by the sun -- no sun, no energy in the atmosphere. so defeating the sun will eventually kill the weather (and all life)

Seeing the sun and blue sky is so pleasant. Sometimes I think I am a plant. fedposting

Same.

The sun on my face and the wind at my back makes daddy happy.
