Now the "moderate" rebels are going to introduce the Syrian people to slavery, hooray!

He went
At least the new regime is an improvement, right?
Who must return?
Did Russia also hire juche necromancers?
Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
Materially, does it make any difference whether he is dead or whether he is alive in Russia, but not doing anything to retake the country? Glad he's alive, if only because I don't want the enemy to have that win of crashing his plane, but it doesn't make the situation any less doomer
Maybe someone will have one hell of a "so I went to my optometrist yesterday..." story after their appointment at The Lion of DaMoscow Eyecare.
"so I went to my optometrist yesterday..."
Extremely pedantic correction: Dr. Assad is an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. He's qualified to perform surgery and prescribe medication, in addition to general eye care.
He's still waiting on his license for that!
What i fear most is that there is going to a domino effect of states failing. Lebanon is surrounded by enemies, and could end up in a civilwar. Isntreal is on the verge of collapse(this ones good). Egypt could see unrest, and more rebel activity. Especially in the Sinai. Armenia, and Azerbaijan may go into a full blown war. Georgia is being fucked with by the west too.
It seems to me like the US is forcing Turkiyes hand by causing Chaos all around them, and trying to worsen relations between Iran/Russia, and Turkiye. But it may backfire if they get mad at the US when theyre surrounded on all sides by wars.
I really wish Turkiye, Russia, and Iran would all get together and stabilize the region. They could do it. But the US is gonna do everything it can to prevent that.
I really hope im wrong, but the entire region falling into war is looking like pretty much a certainty these days.
The Biden regime has engineered a new phase of (dying) empire which seems to consist of just escalating fucking everywhere and daring someone to punch back and start the world war we are hurtling toward. It's fucking terrifying.
Yarp feels like europe is just doin the Neville strategy with the us which makes sense seein how it worked so well in the 30s
Yes, well said. This is the exact feeling I've had lately and I appreciate that you articulated it like this. It seems like a huge gambit to set the stage for confrontation with China.
It seems to me like the US is forcing Turkiyes hand by causing Chaos all around them, and trying to worsen relations between Iran/Russia, and Turkiye. But it may backfire if they get mad at the US when theyre surrounded on all sides by wars.
Wasn't what happened in Syria actually engineered by Turkey?
Just now ya. Thats not the chaos im talking about. Thats the forcing their hand part.
The terrorists in Syria were being helped directly by Turkey. Don't think they are on the side of the resistance, they play both sides for their own interests.
Ya for sure. They play both sides and the US wants to make them pick a side. But it may backfire. If they feel theyll get a better deal by helping Russia they may. If the US pisses them off enough. US uses bully politics. Theyll try to bully Turkiye into compliance. Its been working so far but idk if itll hold.
Turkey is one of the destabilisers lmao. They occupy a significant portion of Syria, are continuing the civil war by escalating fighting in Manbij, and multiple times provided air cover for Daesh uprisings in Al-hol camp and other SDF-controlled prisons. Turkey regularly bombs Iraq and occupies part of them too.
All while preaching brotherhood and claiming they only want to fight Israel, yet haven't don't a fucking thing for Palestinians except a pitiful economic boycott that is just proxied through the Sisi regime in Egypt.
When and where did the US force Turkey to invade Afrin and ethnically cleanse it? The fact you use "Turkiye" makes me think you might just be a typical Erdogan sympathiser, but your model of imperialism where the US meticulously plans every single event rather than there being actors that align to the US to fulfil their regional ambitions is exactly why you're sounding exactly like a fash sympathiser.
I just use Turkiye because thats what i thought it was supposed to be now? Is that not the correct name? I dont support what they do i just recognize theyre a powerful regional player, and if their interests aligned with Russia and Iran they may help them over the US. I honestly don't know much at all about the politics of the country itself, and am not in any way related to the area. I do recognize that they have their own imperial ambitions, but so does Russia. If those imperial ambitions and the US's dont align tho they could become a useful enemy to the US. I also never said the US forces them to do every bad thing they do. Just that the US makes them align with US foreign policy in ways they otherwise might not do. This isnt limited to Turkey/Turkiye/whatever its just how the US operates.
As for my own personal beliefs i don't support any of the nations being discussed. Except in where they oppose the US. Because i see the US as the bigger threat globally so even if i might otherwise despise someone like Erdogan I'd be happy to see him be a thorn in the US's side. The only nations i support in most things are AES states like the DPRK, China, Cuba, etc.
Well shit, what happens next?
I’m gonna guess the current government takes a hard-right “turn”, and Russia starts funding rebel groups in Syria in hopes of getting back influence in the region.
What's the Russian equivalent of Miami they stick their Governments-in-exile with basically zero local support in?
I guess Crimea if we want to keep governments-in-exile in vacation destinations.
Krasnodar, sochi, are the biggest tropical resort towns unlike Crimea that has a more temperate climate. And Krasnodar is swampy I think.
Every one tries to make friends with the new government of Syria (assuming there is one). There have already been statements from Assad's allies )Iraqi militia leaders, Iran and Russia) expressing interest in diplomacy.
I'm not optimistic, but the future isn't certain either.
So what was the thing with his plane losing altitude?
maybe it was landing lol
My understanding was that a plane leaving Syria did get shot down, but it was total speculation as to who was on board. Maybe? It's hard to keep track of telegram rumors
They couldn't mossad the Assad in the end.
Assad is alive and well in Moscow
Assad's gotta go
